VOICE DIAL NAMES AND NUMBERS You can teach the phone to "voice dial"- to dial a telephone number when you speak a name. In order to voice dial, the phone first completes three main steps. It learns to recognize the spoken name and makes a "voiceprint. It learns the telephone number for the voiceprint. It stores the voiceprint and the number with a name you enter using the display window and option button Up to 20 voice dial numbers can be stored in your voice directory. Information for 50 additional "speed dial" numbers can be stored in your speed directory. ABOUT VOICE RECOGNITION How you pronounce a name is important. the phone learns a name by analyzing your voice and creating a voiceprint as you say the name. Whether you are teaching the phone a new name or are locating a previously-learned name, it recognizes best when you speak naturally, in a normal voice and at a normal speed. When the phone listens to your voice, it first signals you with a short beep. Only after the beep can it hear you speak. It is important to avoid extra words or sounds (such as coughing, clearing the throat, or other conversation) before or after you say a name. There is also no need to over-enunciate or to pause between first and last name. For best results, speak the name as if you were introducing one person to another. The phone can learn up to 20 spoken names and can be taught be any number of different people in any language. Because everybody's voiceprints are different, each person must teach the phone the names he or she will use. If two people with to voice dial the same name, each person must separately teach the name. Remember, the phone recognizes your voice as you say the names you taught it. It depends on you to speak with consistency. We recommend that you teach only a few names at first. It may take a day or two for you to become comfortable and consistent when you speak to a telephone, but the practice will be fun and will worth the effort. VOICE DIALING TIPS Speak directly into the handset. If there is a problem, another message may display. SPEECH DIAGNOSTIC MESSAGES TOO NOISY There was to much background noise or someone was talking before the name was spoken. SPEAK LOUDER Be sure you are speaking directly into the handset at a normal volume. You may nee to speak louder if there is background noise. USE FULL NAME The name was too short.
