DuoFone 600 Voice Dialing Phone (430-0650) Troubleshooting Faxback Doc. # 17918 At some time you may wish to "start over." There are two ways to reset the phone. If the display seems frozen, first attempt a "soft" reset. This starts the phone working again without losing memory. If you wish to clear all memory, without removing batteries and power, attempt a hard reset. Only the "hard" reset will erase all names, numbers, and codes. RESETTING THE PHONE Disconnect the phone from the telephone line. 1. Locate the hole containing the recessed reset button on the back of the display piece. 2. Using the tip of a pencil or paper clip, carefully press the reset button. 3. Check the message in the display window. Select NO for a "soft" reset. Then check to see in the problem clears up. Select YES for a "hard" reset, only if you wish to erase all memory. NOTE: If you select YES, you must reteach all names, numbers, and codes. If the phone is not operating properly, these suggestions may help. Problem When dialing the phone, you hear touch tones, but the call does not connect and the dial tone does not go away Solution: You do not have touch-tone service. Set the dialing mode to pulse (rotary) dialing. Or, contact your local phone company to subscribe to touch tone service. Problem Although almost all names can be voice dialed accurately, a few specific names are not dialed correctly when spoken. Solution: There was a problem when those specific names were taught to the phone. Erase the troublesome names from the voice directory. Re-teach those same names. Avoid names that sound similar such as "Bob Doe" and "Rob Poe." Problem When you use a handheld dialer or other device that sends touch tones externally, the phone continues to beep and display speech messages (SPEAK NAME, SAY AGAIN, and so on). Solution: The phone is in voice dialing mode. Lift the handset and press (HOLD). You can then use your handheld dialer or other device without difficulty. Problem The display window is dim after the phone has been powered only by batteries for a while. Solution: This is normal. Your phone is still fully functional. Connect the AC adapter as soon as possible. Always use the AC adapter and batteries during normal operation. Problem The phone seems to have stopped working and the display is frozen, even though the AC adapter is connected. Solution: Someone may have set the security protection to lock the phone. Check for the lock symbol in the upper left side of the display. Set the security level to OFF. If this is not the problem, you may need to reset the phone manually. (/all-11/08/95)
