Caller ID System 360 (430-0963) Connecting to the Phone Line Faxback Doc. # 18036 The module connects to the phone line and your phone using two modular telephone-line connectors. If your phone line does not have this type of connector, you can get the necessary adapters at your local Radio Shack store. Or, you can have the telephone company update your telephone wiring. NOTES: The telephone company can charge you to update the telephone wiring. The USOC number of the jack to be installed is RJ11C (RJ14C for a 2-line phone.) CONNECTING TO A SINGLE LINE PHONE Follow these steps to connect the module to a single phone line. 1. Unplug the phone's cord from the phone jack and plug this cord into either of the module's telephone line connectors. 2. Plug one end of the supplied phone line cord into the module's other telephone line connector. 3. Plug the other end of the cord into the phone line jack. CONNECTING TO A TWO-LINE PHONE To record information about calls received on a two-line phone, you can connect two modules using a triplex adapter (Cat. No. 279-402). The module only records information about calls received on the line to which it is connected. Follow these steps to connect the modules to a two-line phone. 1. Unplug the phone's cord from the phone line jack and plug it into L1 + L2 on the triplex adapter. 2. Plug the adapter into the phone line jack. 3. Plug one end of the supplied telephone cord into either telephone jack on one of the modules. 4. Plug the other end of the cord into either L1 or L2 on the triplex adapter. 5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 to connect another module into the remaining open jack (L1 or L2) on the triplex adapter. CONNECTING TO AN ANSWERING MACHINE 1. Unplug the answering machine's cord from the phone line jack and plug this cord into either of the module's telephone line connectors. 2. Plug one end of the supplied phone cord into the module's other telephone line connector, then plug the other end of the cord into the phone line jack. 3. Set the answering machine to answer calls after at least two rings. (PH 11/3/95)
