Telephone Recording Control (430-0228A) Features Faxback Doc. # 18314 Your Telephone Recording Control helps you make automatic taped recordings of all of your phone calls - incoming and outgoing. The control starts recording when you lift the receiver and stops when you hang up. The control can be used with most telephones and with any cassette recorder that has jacks for a remote microphone and remote control. READ THIS BEFORE INSTALLATION It is illegal in some states to record a conversation without the consent of all parties to the conversation, including the phone company. Check the laws in your area before using the recording control. We have designed your recording control to conform to federal regulations, and you can connect it to most telephone lines. However, each device you connect to the telephone line draws power from it. We refer to this power draw as the ringer equivalence number, or REN. The REN is shown on the bottom of the recording control. If you use more than one telephone or other device on the line, add up all of the RENs. If the total is more than five, your telephones might not ring. In rural areas, a total REN of three might impair ringer operation. (CS 11/14/95)
