CONNECTING TO A SINGLE LINE

The module connects to the phone line using a modular telephone-line
connector.  If your phone line does not have this type of connector, you
can get the necessary adapters at your local Radio Shack store.  Or, you
can have the telephone company update your telephone wiring.

NOTE:  The telephone company can charge you to update the telephone wiring.
       The USOC number of the jack to be installed is RJ-11C.

Follow these steps to connect the module to the phone line.

1.  Unplug the phone's cord from the modular telephone line connector and
    plug this cord into either of the module's phone jacks.

2.  Plug the supplied phone line cord into the module's other phone jack.

3.  Plug the other end of the supplied phone line cord into the modular
    telephone line connector.

CONNECTING TO A TWO-LINE PHONE

You can connect the module to a two-line phone using a two-line, three way 
jack adapter (Cat. No. 279-402).  The module only records information about
calls received on the line to which it is connected.

Follow these steps to connect the module to a two-line phone.

1.  Unplug the phone's cord from the phone line jack, then plug the adapter
    into the phone line jack.

2.  Plug the phone's cord into L1+L2 on the adapter.

3.  Plug one end of the supplied modular cord into either of the module's
    phone jacks.

4.  Plug the other end of the modular cord into L1 or L2 on the adapter.

NOTE:  You can also connect two modules (one module for each line).  Each
       module records information for the line you connect it to.  Simply
       plug the other module into the remaining open jack (L1 or L2) on
       the adapter.

CONNECTING TO AN ANSWERING MACHINE

1.  Unplug the answering machine's cord from the phone jack, then plug the
    cord into either of the module's phone jacks.

2.  Plug one end of the supplied phone line cord into the other phone jack
    on the module.  Then plug the other end of the cord into the phone
    jack.

3.  Set the answering machine to answer calls after at least two rings.
