Caller ID System 240 (430-0962) Operation Faxback Doc. # 18704 ADJUSTING THE DISPLAY CONTRAST Follow these steps to adjust the display's contrast for the best visibility. 1. Press and hold down DELETE. 2. While holding down DELETE, repeated press < REVIEW within 6 seconds to decrease the contrast or REVIEW > to increase it. NOTE: If you hold down DELETE for longer than 6 seconds without pressing a REVIEW button, the system deletes all calls from its memory. 3. Release DELETE. SELECTING A MEMORY MODE Your Caller ID System 240 can store 64 caller ID messages that have telephone number only or 25 caller ID messages that have both the name and telephone number. Follow these steps to set the module to the type of caller ID service you have. NOTE: If you are not sure which type you have, contact your local telephone service provider. CAUTION: This process deletes all call records previously stored in your System 240. 1. Press and hold DELETE for 6 seconds. -NO CALLS- appears on the display. 2. Continue to hold DELETE, SELECT MEM MODE appears. 3. Continue to hold DELETE. The system displays the current memory mode. 4. To change the memory mode, press < REVIEW or REVIEW >. 5. Release DELETE when the system displays the desired mode. RECEIVING AND STORING CALLS The module automatically receives and displays all caller ID information for every incoming call. As it receives calls, it stores the information in the module's memory for later recall. NEW CALLS If the module has received a call since the last time it was reviewed, the message indicator flashes rapidly (see "Reviewing and Deleting Call Information," below. UNAVAILABLE CALLS If caller ID service is not available in the caller's area, UNAVAILABLE appears on the display. ANONYMOUS CALLS If the caller has elected to block caller ID information, ANONYMOUS CALL appears on the display for about 30 seconds, and the message alert indicator flashes after the second ring. NO DATA SENT When call information is not sent by the telephone company, the display shows NO DATA SENT. This happens if you have not subscribed to Caller ID service or if you answer the call before the second ring. LINE ERROR If there is an error in the Caller ID transmission, LINE ERROR appears on the display. Note: Minor electrical disturbances can affect the caller ID information. Occasional errors are normal. If the module frequently displays LINE ERROR, contact your local Radio Shack store for assistance. REVIEWING/DELETING CALL INFORMATION You can review and delete call information for up to 64 caller ID messages that have telephone number only or 25 caller ID messages that have both the name and telephone number. To view the latest call information, press either < REVIEW or REVIEW > when the display is blank. Then, to view other call information displays, press < REVIEW to step back through the calls or REVIEW > to step forward through them. NOTE: The display shows up to 10 digits of the phone number. If the incoming phone number is longer than 10 digits, the display shows only the last 10 digits. To delete the displayed call, quickly press DELETE twice. To delete all calls, press and hold down DELETE for about 6 seconds. The module displays NO CALLS. (CS 12/7/95)
