Your Radio Shack TAD-539 Remote Control Telephone Answering System is a
combination multifeature telephone and answering system.  It's easy to
operate and offers many special features.  Please read this owner's manual
completely before you use the TAD.

Your TAD's (Telephone Answering Device) features include:

TELEPHONE

                      Redial - dials the last number dialed with the press
                               of a button.

Touch-Tone or Pulse (Rotary) - lets you use the TAD with tone or pulse
Dialing                        service.

                       Flash - generates a switchhook signal for
                               specialized services such as call waiting.

                       Reset - disconnects a call so you don't have to hang
                               up the handset before making another call.

ANSWERING SYSTEM

 Remote Control Operation - lets you operate the TAD from a remote touch-
                            tone phone or from a pulse phone using a pocket
                            tone dialer (not supplied).

     Automatic Toll-Saver - saves unnecessary toll charges when you call
                            long-distance to check your messages.

           Call Screening - lets you listen while a caller leaves a message
                            so you can decide if you want to answer the
                            call.

           Memo Recording - lets you leave reminders for yourself or
                            messages for others.

     Single Microcassette - records both the outgoing message and incoming
                            messages.

                      VOX - stops recording after several seconds of
                            silence to conserve tape space.

        Message Indicator - shows how many messages and memos are recorded
                            on the tape.

Hearing-Aid Compatibility - operates with a hearing aid equipped with a T
                            (telephone) switch.

This TAD has been tested and found to comply with all applicable UL
standards.

WARNING:  To prevent fire or shock hazard, and damage to your TAD, do not
          expose it to rain or moisture.
