TAD-275 Telephone Answering System (430-0761) Remote Control Operation Faxback Doc. # 19235 While you are away from your home or office, you can use a touch-tone phone or pocket tone dialer to: Set the TAD to answer calls Play your messages Record a memo Erase your messages REMOTE TURN-ON You can use any remote phone to set the TAD to answer calls if: Power is supplied to the TAD. The cassette is loaded. The TAD is set to STOP. To set the TAD to answer calls, dial your phone number and wait about 12-14 rings until the TAD answers. Then hang up the phone. NOTE: Be sure to set STOP/ON to ON when you get home to play back any recorded messages. REMOTE PLAYBACK To play back your messages from a remote phone, follow these steps. NOTES: Friends who know your remote operation security code can follow these steps to hear memos you left by remote. The TAD resets to answer calls after remote operation. It does not rewind and record new messages over the ones you have heard by remote. 1. Dial your phone number. The TAD answers on the second ring if there are new messages. If there are no new messages, the TAD answers on the forth ring. This toll-saver feature saves long-distance charges by indicating if you have any new messages. If there are no new messages, you can hang up before the TAD answers. 2. When the outgoing message stops and a beep sounds, enter the remote operation security code (found on the bottom of the TAD) within 5 seconds. Be sure each button press is at least 1/2 second long. The TAD beeps while the tape is rewinding. If no beep sounds, re-enter the code. Then the TAD plays back the incoming messages. At the end of all the messages, the TAD beeps four times. NOTE: If you hang up while the TAD is playing back the messages, the TAD stops and resets to answer the next call if your telephone line has CPC service. Otherwise, the TAD might not recognize that you hung up. If someone calls while the TAD continues to play the messages, the caller hears a busy signal. To replay the messages, wait about 8 seconds. After a single beep, enter the remote code. Saving the Messages If you want to save the messages, simply hang up the phone during or after playback of the messages. Erasing the Messages If you want to erase the messages after playback, enter the remote operation security code within 8 seconds after the four short beeps at the end of all the messages. After the TAD beeps, hang up the phone. NOTE: After you erase messages, you cannot recover them by pressing SAVE/FAST-F. Recording a Remote Memo You can record a remote memo for your family or friends who know the remote operation security code. After the four beeps at the end of all the messages, wait 8 seconds. After you hear a single beep, leave a message up to 60 seconds long, then hang up the phone. (EB 1/9/96)
