ET-282 20-Memory Slim Fone (430-0548) Troubleshooting Faxback Doc. # 19407 If You Have Problems If your ET-282 is not operating properly, we suggest that you go through this checklist before bringing your unit to Radio Shack. You might be able to solve the problem on your own and save yourself both time and inconvenience. 1. Is the unit properly connected? 2. Is the TONE/PULSE switch set correctly? 3. Is the NORM/PROG switch set to NORM? 4. Have other phones on the same line been picked up? In areas of low telephone voltage, the unit might get interference or might not operate if other phones are active on the same line. Hanging up the other phones should correct the problem. If You Still Have Problems Disconnect the unit immediately! If other phones on the same line function properly, the problem is in the unit or its installation. If you are unable to locate the problem, bring the unit to your local Radio Shack store for assistance. Lightning Your ET-282 has built-in protection circuits to reduce the risk of damage from surges in telephone line current. These circuits meet or exceed FCC requirements. However, lightning striking near or on the line can cause an excessive surge of voltage that can damage the phone. Lightning damage is uncommon. But, if you are concerned about it or live in an area with frequent and/or severe electrical storms, we suggest that you unplug your electronic products during the storms. (JC 1/9/96)
