ET-293 Two-Line Amplified Trim-Fone (430-0622) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 19488 SETTING THE TONE/PULSE SWITCH Set TONE/PULSE for the type of service you have. If you are not sure which type of service you have, follow these steps. 1. Set TONE/PULSE to TONE. 2. Press LINE 1. 3. Lift the handset and listen for a dial tone. 4. Press any number other than 0. If the dial tone stops, you have touch-tone service on that line. If the dial tone continues, you have pulse service. 5. Press LINE 2, and repeat Steps 3 and 4. 6. If you have pulse service on either line, set TONE/PULSE to PULSE. If you have tone service, leave TONE/PULSE set to TONE. NOTE: The # button has no function in the pulse mode. SETTING THE RINGER HI/LO OFF SWITCH Set the volume for each line's ringer. Set HI/LO/OFF to HI in a noisy room, such as the kitchen. Set HI/LO/OFF to LO in a quiet room, such as a bedroom. If you do not want a ringer to sound, set HI/LO/OFF to OFF. You can still answer the phone if you hear an extension phone ringing, and you can still make calls. The green indicator flashes when you receive a call. CONFIRMING LINE NUMBERS To determine the phone number for each line, press LINE 1, lift the handset, and dial one of the phone numbers. If the green indicator for Line 2 flashes, the number you dialed is for Line 2. If you hear a busy signal, the number is for Line 1. Write the phone numbers in the spaces provided on the handset's cradle. NOTE: If you have Rollover (Hunt), ask someone to call one of the phone numbers from a third phone line and note which green indicator flashes. (EB 1/17/96)
