TAD-253 (430-0763) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 19514 SETTING THE RINGER SWITCH To turn off the telephone's ringer (for example, while you sleep), set RINGER on the back of the phone's base to OFF. You can still make outgoing calls. If you hear an extension phone ring, you can still answer calls. SETTING THE DIALING MODE Set PULSE/TONE for the type of service you have. If you are not sure which type of service you have, do this simple test. 1. Lift the handset and listen for a dial tone. 2. Set PULSE/TONE to TONE. 3. Press any number other than 0. If the dial tone stops, you have touch-tone service. If the dial tone continues, you have pulse service. Set PULSE/TONE to PULSE. NOTES: The * and # buttons do not function when PULSE/TONE is set to PULSE. If you have pulse service and want to use a special service that requires tone signals (such as bank-by-phone), see "Using Tone Services with a Pulse Line". (EB 1/10/96)
