Should any problem persist after you have made the following checks,
consult your local Radio Shack store.

Five short beeps sound when TALK is pressed.

    Extend the telescopic antenna fully.

    The handset is too far from the base unit.

    Place the base unit away from interference sources.

    The hand set battery may be weak.  Charge the battery by placing the
    handset on the base unit for more than 10 hours.

    The digital security code may have been erased.  To reprogram, place
    the handset on the base unit with the handset in the RING ON mode.

Interference noise is heard.

    The handset is too far from the base unit.

    Radio signals can cause interference.

    Press CHANNEL on the handset.

    Place the base unit away from noise sources.

Five short beeps sound when you dial the phone number.

    The handset is too far from the base unit.
    Place the base unit away from noise sources.

The handset does not ring.

    The handset battery may be weak.  Charge the battery on the base unit
    for more than 10 hours.

    Set the mode switch on the handset to RING ON.

    Extend the telescopic antenna fully.

    The handset is too far away from the base unit.

    The digital security code may have been erased.  
    To reprogram, place the handset on the base unit with the handset in
    the RING ON mode.

No dial tone.

    Plug the telephone line cord securely into the telephone line jack.

    The handset battery may be weak or completely discharged.
    Charge the battery on the base unit for more than 10 hours.

You are connected to the wrong number, or not connected at all, even
though you dialed correctly.

    Check if the DIAL MODE selector setting is correct.

The dialing function does not operate.

    Check if the last number you dialed was more than 32 digits long.

    Check if the number you intended to call was really the last number
    you dialed.

The speed dialing function does not operate.

    Check if there is a phone number correctly programmed for the speed
    dialing location you pressed.

You cannot program a phone number (an alarm tone sounds.)

    Recheck to follow the programming procedures correctly.

    Check if the phone number programmed is more than 16 digits long.

The handset does not ring when calling from the base unit.

    The handset battery may be weak.  Charge the battery on the base unit
    for more than 10 hours.

    Extend the telescopic antenna fully.

    The handset is too far from the base unit.

    Place the base unit away from noise sources.

    Make sure that the mode switch on the handset is set to RING ON.

An alarm sounds every second during conversation.

    It is an out-of-range alarm.  Place the handset closer to the base
    unit within 15 seconds.

An alarm sounds every 3 seconds.

    The handset battery has become weak.

You cannot make a call.

    The digital security code may have been erased.  Or the channels of the
    handset and the base unit are not same.  To program, place the handset
    on the base unit with the handset in the RING ON mode.
