SPP-X50 / 30 Sony Cordless Telephone (430-8003) Installation Faxback Doc. # 33560 PLACING THE PHONE UNITS CHOOSING THE BEST LOCATION FOR THE BASE UNIT Where you place the base unit affects the reception quality of the cordless handset. Therefore, refer to the following when placing the base unit. Away from noise sources such as a window by a street with heavy traffic. Away from heat sources, such as radiators, air ducts, and sunlight. Away from a microwave oven. Away from excessive moisture, dust, mechanical vibration, or shock. Away from a personal computer. Away from another cordless telephone. Away from or placed higher than electronic equipment. NEAR A CENTRAL LOCATION. CONNECTING THE BASE UNIT 1. Connect one end of the AC power adaptor (supplied) into the DC IN 9V jack, and the other end into an AC outlet. Be sure to pass the AC power adaptor cord around the hook. NOTE: Connect the AC power adaptor to a continuous power supply. Otherwise the battery pack being charged will have a shorter life. 2. Plug one end of the long telephone line cord (supplied) into the TEL LINE jack, and the other end into a telephone outlet. NOTE: If your phone jack is not modular, contact your telephone service company for assistance. 3. Fully extend the antenna. Make sure it points toward the ceiling. NOTE ON THE AC POWER ADAPTOR: Use only the AC power adaptor supplied. Do not use any other AC power adaptor. Polarity of the plug - center contact = ( + ). HANGING THE BASE UNIT ON A WALL Hanging the base unit on a wall will save space. 1. Press the AC power adaptor cord and the short telephone line cord into the wall bracket. 2. Hook the wall bracket to the wall plate and plug the telephone line cord into the modular jack. NOTES: If your phone jack is not modular, contact your telephone service company for assistance. If the plate does not have hooks, see "If you can not hook the wall bracket", below. 3. Insert the tabs on the top of the wall bracket into the base unit and press the phone so that the lower tabs on the wall bracket go into the base unit. 4. Extend the antenna fully. 5. Connect the base unit to an AC outlet and the telephone outlet. For details, see "Connecting the base unit" section, above. IF YOU CANNOT HOOK THE WALL BRACKET Attach the wall bracket directly to the wall using the supplied screws. HANGING THE CORDLESS HANDSET ON YOUR BELT By attaching the belt clip to the back of the cordless handset, you can hang the cordless handset on your belt and carry it with you. You can also hang the cordless handset on a wall by putting a hook (not supplied) on the wall. 1. Remove the code table (if any) and cover from the cordless handset. 2. Insert and hand-tighten the screw on the belt clip into the hole on the cordless handset. 3. Clip the cordless handset onto your belt. (YO/EB 6/11/96)
