Krystalite Neon Phone (430-0809) - Pink Opration Faxback Doc. # 34000 (430-0810) - Blue OPERATION You can make and receive calls on your phone the way you do on regular phones. To make a call, use manual dialing or REDIAL. To receive a call, lift the handset when the phone rings and begin your conversation. Notes: If you set the TONE-PULSE switch to PULSE, the telephone takes more time to dial the number you entered. Check with your local telephone company or any special service, such as bank-by-phone, for information about the function of the * and # keys. REDIAL Your phone automatically stores the last number dialed. To redial the number you last dialed, do the following: 1. Lift the handset and listen for a dial tone. 2. Press REDIAL. The telephone dials the last number dialed. Notes: The redial memory is erased if you dial more than 32 digits during a single call. PUTTING A CALL ON HOLD The hold feature lets you put a call on hold. To put a call on hold, do the following: 1. Let the caller know you are about to put the line on hold. Then, press HOLD. The hold indicator lights. While the call is on hold, you can place the handset in the cradle. 2. To release the call from hold, do one of the following: Lift the handset of the Krystalite Neon phone, or another phone on the line, and continue the conversation. Lifting the handset releases the hold feature. If you do not return the handset to the cradle after putting a call on hold, press and hold the switchhook for one second or longer and then release it to continue the conversation. USING THE FLASH BUTTON Many special telephone services require a switchhook signal. When you press FLASH, your phone produces an electronic equivalent of a switchhook signal that is more accurate and more convenient than using the phone's switchhook. For example, if you subscribe to call waiting (a special telephone company service), you can press FLASH to put your current call on hold and take another incoming call. You can repeatedly press FLASH to alternate between the two calls. Notes: The redial memory does not store the FLASH entry or any keys you press after FLASH. If you do not have special telephone services, you might disconnect the current call if you press FLASH. You should not use FLASH to release a call from hold. USING TONE SERVICES ON A PULSE LINE Computer-based services, such as an alternative long-distance service, require tone telephones. If you have a tone line, simply dial the series of numbers required for the service. However, to access special telephone services using a pulse line, you must change the TONE-PULSE switch setting during the call. 1. Before dialing the number, be sure TONE-PULSE is set to PULSE. Then, dial the number of the special service. 2. When the service answers with a second dial tone, set TONE-PULSE to TONE. 3. Follow the special service's dialing procedure. 4. Complete the call and hang up. Then, set TONE-PULSE back to PULSE. To redial a computer-based service using a pulse line, you can dial the series of numbers for the service. Otherwise, you can use REDIAL: 1. Be sure TONE-PULSE is set to PULSE. Then, press REDIAL to dial the number of the special service. 2. When the service answers with a second dial tone, set TONE-PULSE to TONE. Then, press REDIAL. 3. Complete the call and hang up. Then set TONE-PULSE. (BR/EB 7/1/96)
