Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the phone. Unplug the phone from the wall jack before cleaning with a damp cloth. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners. Do not use the phone near water: for example, near a bath tub, sink or near a pool. Do not let anything rest on the phone or power cord. Do not place this phone where a person can walk on and abuse the cord. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not push objects through the phone's slots or disassemble the phone. Pushing objects in the phone or openings or removing cover might expose you to dangerous voltages or other risks. Take it to a technician when service or repair is required. Incorrect reassembly can cause electric shock when you use the phone. Do not place the phone on a bed, rug, any similar surface, or near a heater. The phone has slots and openings for ventilation that must not be blocked or covered. Do not place this phone on an unstable cart stand, or table. The phone might fall, and be seriously damaged. Unplug this phone from the phone line jack and refer servicing to service personnel under the following conditions: a. If liquid spills into the phone b. If the phone is exposed to rain or water c. If the phone fails to operate normally d. If the phone is dropped or the cabinet is damaged e. If the phone exhibits a distinct change in performance. Adjust only controls covered by the operating instructions. Improper adjustment of other controls can cause damage and often requires extensive work by a technician to restore the product to normal operation. Avoid using the phone during electrical storms. There is a risk of electric shock from lightning. Do not use the phone to report a gas leak in the vicinity of the leak. Follow these additional safety rules when using an AC-powered phone: a. Only operate this phone from the power source indicated on the marking label. If you are not sure about your home's power supply, consult your power company. b. Your phone's AC cord might be equipped with a three wire grounding plug or a polarized plug. This is a safety feature. The grounding plug will only fit into a grounding type power outlet, and the polarized line plug will only fit into the outlet one way. If you cannot plug the cord into your outlet, contact your electrician to replace your obsolete outlet. c. Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords as this can result in fire or electric shock. Follow all safety rules and use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines. For example: a. Do not install telephone wiring during a lightning storm. b. Only install telephone jacks in dry locations unless the jack is specifically designed for wet locations. c.
