TAD-450 Telephone Answering Device w/ Voice & Timer (430-0720) Operation Faxback Doc. # 34549 USING THE TIMER The timer feature lets you set the TAD to automatically start answering calls at a specified time. Through the timer settings, you do the following: * Turn the timer feature on or off * Specify the automatic start time * Specify the answering mode used during timed operation * Specify the automatic stop time Follow these steps to set the timer. NOTE: At any time, you can press STOP to stop entering timer settings and return to the clock display. The TAD saves any information you have entered. 1. Be sure MASTER POWER is set to ON. 2. If the display does not show the clock, press STOP. 3. Press SET. The TAD says, "Set timer status: timer off (on)," and the display shows whether the timer feature is turned on or off. 4. Press FAST-F or REWIND to turn the timer feature on or off. Then, press SET. The TAD says, "Set timer command. Then, it says "Answer calls; record messages" or "Answer calls; play announcement." ANSWER or ANNOUNCE appears on the display to show the answering mode the timer is currently set for. 5. If necessary, press FAST-F or REWIND to change the answering mode. Then, press SET. The TAD says, "Start time:Set hour," and the hour digits flash on the display. 6. Press FAST-F or REWIND to set the hour for the time you want the TAD to start answering calls. Then, press SET. The TAD says, "Set minutes," and the minutes digits fkash on the display. 7. Press FAST-F or REWIND to set the minutes for the time you want the TAD to start answering calls. Then, press SET. The TAD says, "Stop time: Set hour." 8. Use the procedure described in Steps 6 and 7 to set the time you want the TAD to stop answering calls. The TAD says, "Time of day: Set hour." 9. Press STOP to stop entering timer settings and return to the clock display. The TAD announces the current clock and calendar settings and the current call and message counts. TIMER appears on the display to show that the timer feature is on, and ANSWER or ANNOUNCE flashes to show the answering mode the timer will use during timed operation. At the automatic start time, TIMER begins flashing and ANSWER or ANNOUNCE lights steadily. At the automatic stop time, TIMER lights steadily again and ANSWER or ANNOUNCE begins flashing. CHANGING ANSWERING MODE DURING TIMED OPERATION During timed operation, you can temporarilychange the answering mode by pressing ANSWER. During the next period of timed operation, the TAD automatically returns to the answering mode specified through the timer settings. NOTE: If you change the answering mode during timed operation. TIMER stops flashing to show an override of the timer settings. MANUALLY STOPPING TIMED OPERATION To manually stop the TAD from answering calls before the automatic stop time, press STOP. TIMER lights steadily and ANSWER or ANNOUNCE flashes. The TAD begins answering calls again at the automatic start time. SETTING UP SECURITY CODE Press Stop 1. Press SET "Set timer statue." 2. Press SET (repeatedly, if needed) until TAD says, "Time of day." 3. Press FAST-F or REWIND until the display shows correct hour. 4. Press SET. 5. When the TAD tells you to set the minutes, month, date, day, and three digit second code, press FAST-F, or REWIND to change. Then, press SET to move to the next setting, or press STOP to stop the entering settings. NOTE: 30 sec. or more delay, before pressing a button will cause the unit to return to the clock display.
