EC-360 (650-0868) Care and Maintenance Faxback Doc. # 15510 The Radio Shack EC-360 5-in-1 Calculator Data Directory is and example of superior design and craftsmanship. The following suggestions will help you care for the EC-360 so you can enjoy it for years. Keep the EC-360 dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately. Liquids might contain minerals that can corrode electronic circuits. Use and store the EC-360 only in normal temperature environments, and avoid sudden temperature changes. Temperature extremes can shorten the life of electronic devices, damage batteries, and distort or melt plastic parts. At very low temperatures, the display's response time might slow down or the display might fail completely. This is only temporary. The EC-360 works normally again when it returns to normal temperature. If the EC-360 is exposed to strong static electrical charges, it might either fail to respond or its display might dim. This rarely happens. But if it does, reset the EC-360 (see "Resetting the EC-360"). Handle the EC-360 gently and carefully. Dropping it can damage the circuit boards and cause the EC-360 to work improperly. Keep the EC-360 away from dust and dirt, which can cause premature wear of parts. Wipe the EC-360 with a damp cloth occasionally to keep the product looking new. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean the EC-360. Modifying or tampering with the EC-360's internal components can cause a malfunction and might invalidate the warranty. If the EC-360 is not performing as it should, take it to the Radio Shack store for assistance. REPLACING THE BATTERY When battery power is low, the calculator displays BATTERY LOW after you press ON/MENU or RESET. If this happens, replace the battery with one CR-2025 battery (such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-161, not supplied). WARNING: Do not allow children to play with the battery. Swallowing the battery can be fatal. Follow these steps to replace the battery: 1. Push the battery compartment cover in the direction of the arrow and lift it off. 2. Insert the tip of a small flatblade screwdriver (or similar object) under the battery and pry out the battery. 3. Install a fresh battery with the positive (+) side facing up. Press down on the battery to ensure good contact. NOTES: Handle the battery by its edge. Use only a fresh battery of the required size and type. 4. Replace the cover. (TE/all-06/02/95)
