24K Directory Organizer (650-0950) Battery Faxback Doc. # 15646 Telephone Dialer INSTALLING/REPLACING BATTERY The directory organizer is powered by two AA batteries. For best performance and longest life, we recommend alkaline batteries, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-552. The batteries should last about 440 days, based on an average use of 20 telephone calls per day. When the display becomes dim, replace the batteries as follows: CAUTIONS: You should always keep a written record of all important names and numbers. All electronic devices are subject to possible data loss. Have fresh batteries on hand before you begin. You must install new batteries as quickly as possible after removing the old ones, or you lose the information stored in the directory organizer. To prevent losing the information stored in the directory organizer, do not press any button while you replace the batteries. 1. Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove two screws on the battery compartment cover. Then, pull the tab to remove the battery compartment cover. 2. Remove and replace the batteries, observing the correct polarity as marked inside the compartment. 3. Replace the battery compartment cover. Secure it with the two screws. 4. Confirm that no records were lost or altered. If you notice any changes, you must initialize the directory organizer. See "Initializing." The directory organizer also has a backup battery that protects the memory when the main batteries are dead or removed. This battery lasts about 3 years. When the directory loses all information when you remove the main batteries, the backup battery needs to be replaced. This battery is not user-serviceable. Take the directory organizer to your local Radio Shack store, where our personnel can have a repair center replace the battery. (br/all-06/13/95)
