EC-337 (650-0858) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 15715 BATTERY INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENT The organizer is powered by four AAA batteries. For best performance and longest life, we recommend alkaline batteries, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-555. The batteries should last about 5 months. When the display dims, replace the batteries. CAUTIONS: Have fresh batteries on hand before you begin. You must install new batteries within 3 minutes after you remove the old ones, or you might lose the information stored in the organizer. To prevent losing the information stored in the organizer, do not press any buttons while you replace the batteries. Follow these steps to replace the batteries. 1. Press OFF to be sure the organizer is turned off. 2. Slide the battery compartment cover off the bottom case. 3. Remove and replace the batteries as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked inside the compartment. 4. Replace the battery compartment cover. NOTE: Be sure the cover is firmly closed. Otherwise, the organizer might malfunction. 5. Confirm that no records were lost or altered. If you notice any changes, you must initialize the organizer. See "Initializing the Organizer." INITIALIZING THE ORGANIZER The first time you use the organizer, follow these steps to initialize it and clear any random information from its memory. CAUTION: This procedure clears any records, date, time, and security code from the organizer. 1. Press ON, the display shows the function selections. 2. Press and hold SHIFT and T at the same time. While pressing and holding SHIFT and T, use a ball-point pen to press the RESET hole located at the left of the keypad. 3. Release RESET while pressing and holding SHIFT and T. Release SHIFT and T when a frame around the display appears. Then press RESET again, the display shows Data has been lost! 4. Press Y. The display shows System initialization. 5. Press Y. The display shows PRESS (Y/y) key. 6. Press Y. The display shows System Initialized ! momentarily, then it shows the function selections. RESETTING THE ORGANIZER If the organizer is not working properly, use a pointed object, such as the end of a straightened paper clip, to press the RESET button to the left of Q key on the keypad. If the organizer still does not work properly, replace the batteries and press RESET again. If the organizer is still working improperly after you reset using the above method, you must initialize it. Follow the steps in "Initializing the Organizer." You will have to re-enter all information. If the batteries become too low, the organizer might lose stored information. If this happens, replace the batteries and follow the steps in "Initializing the Organizer." (LB/all-06/22/95)
