EC-442 (650-0847) Battery Faxback Doc. # 15812 Replace the batteries whenever the display dims or no display appears when you press ON. The EC-442 is powered by three CR2032 lithium batteries (Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-162). NOTE: At very low temperatures, the display response time might slow down or fail completely. This is temporary, and correct operation returns at normal temperatures. WARNINGS: Memory contents are cleared when you remove more than one battery at the same time. Remove only one battery at a time to protect memory contents. Replace the batteries only with CR2032 lithium batteries. Using the wrong battery type might present a risk of fire or explosion. Always install the batteries so the positive (+) side faces up. Never mix old and new batteries. Never leave dead batteries in the battery compartment. Remove the batteries if you do not plan to use the EC-442 for a long period. Replace the batteries at least once every two years, regardless of the amount of use. The batteries might explode if misused. Do not try to recharge or disassemble the batteries, and never expose them to heat or flame. Keep batteries out of the reach of small children. Swallowed batteries can be harmful or even fatal. Consult a physician immediately for emergency treatment. 1. Loosen the screw on the battery compartment cover and remove the cover. 2. Loosen the screw on one of the three battery holders and remove the battery holder. CAUTION: Be sure to remove only one battery at a time. Otherwise, you lose all data stored in memory. 3. Remove the old battery. 4. Wipe off the surfaces of a new battery with a dry, soft cloth and insert it into the compartment with the positive (+) side facing up. 5. Replace the battery holder and tighten the screw. Do not overtighten the screw. 6. Repeat steps 2 through 5 for the other two batteries. 7. Replace the battery compartment cover and tighten the screw. Do not overtighten the screw. After replacing the batteries, check if the home time setting is correct. If not, reset the clock as described in "Setting/Viewing the Time Displays." (br/all-06/29/95)
