EC-348 (650-0840) Care and Maintenance Faxback Doc. # 16713 The Radio Shack EC-348 128K Electronic Organizer with Auto-Dialer is an example of superior design and craftsmanship. The following suggestions will help you care for the EC-348 so you can enjoy it for years. Keep the EC-348 dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately. Liquids might contain minerals that can corrode the electronic circuits. Use and store the EC-348 only in normal temperature environments, and avoid sudden temperature changes. Temperature extremes can shorten the lift of electronic devices, damage batteries, and distort or melt plastic parts. NOTE: At very low temperatures, the display's response time might slow down or it might fail completely. This is only temporary. The EC-348 returns to normal operation at warmer temperatures. Handle the EC-348 gently and carefully. Dropping it can damage the circuit boards and can cause it to work improperly. Keep the EC-348 away from dust and dirt, which can cause premature wear of parts. Wipe the EC-348 with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean the EC-348. Use only fresh batteries of the recommended size and type. Always remove old or weak batteries. They can leak chemicals that can destroy electronic circuits. Modifying or tampering with the EC-348's internal components can cause a malfunction and might invalidate the organizer's warranty. If the EC-348 is not performing as it should, take it to your local Radio Shack store for assistance. RESETTING THE DIRECTORY If the EC-348 is exposed to a strong static electrical charge, the organizer might lock up or the display might dim. This rarely happens, but if it does, reset the EC-348 as follows. Insert a pointed object (such as a straightened paper clip into the RESET hole on the bottom of the EC-348, press, and then release. CAUTION: Do not press ENTER when resetting the EC-348, or all your stored information will be deleted. Normal operation resumes, and all previously entered files remain intact. If the EC-348 still does not work properly, replace the batteries and press RESET again. NOTES: If you have entered a security code, you are prompted to enter it before resetting (see "Using the Security Code"). You cannot reset the EC-348 until you enter the code. If the EC-348 is still working improperly after the reset procedure, try initializing it. Follow the steps in "Initializing the Directory." Make sure you have backup records of the EC-348's files because initialization deletes all files. (llg/all-08/28/95)
