REMOVING THE INSULATION SLIP

The EC-353 comes with an insulation slip to prevent battery drain.  Before
using the EC-353, you must remove the slip.

INITIALIZING THE EC-353

The first time you use the data directory, initialize it to clear any
random information from its memory.

CAUTION:  This procedure clears all records and the date, time, and
          security code from the data directory.

1.  Press and hold down ERASE.  Then use a straightened paper clip to
    press RESET on the back of the EC-353.

2.  Release RESET.  A test pattern appears.

3.  Release ERASE.  After about 40 seconds, the EC-353 turns off.

RESETTING THE EC-353

If the EC-353 is not working properly, use a pointed object, such as the
end of a straightened paper clip, to press RESET on the back of the EC-353.

The telephone/business card records and the schedule reminders remain in
memory after you reset the EC-353.  However, you must re-enter the current
date and time and the daily alarm time, and reset the key tone, hourly
chime, and daily alarm.

In addition, you might need to re-enter any information you were entering
just before you reset the EC-353.
