The security feature lets you lock all files you enter as confidential.

NOTE:  You can enter a confidential file without knowing the password, but
       you cannot retrieve the file without entering the correct password.

SETTING THE PASSWORD

1.  Press CONFIDENTIAL. ENTER A PASSWORD and a key symbol appears on the
    display.

2.  Enter any five-digit number, then press ENTER. PASSWORD ENTERED briefly
    appears on the display and the number becomes your EC-342's password.

When TYPE IN INITIALS appears, either recall a file, or if you have not
stored any confidential files press TIME/DATE to return to the time or
date display.

ENTERING CONFIDENTIAL FILES

1.  Press ENTER, the press CONFIDENTIAL. TYPE IN FILE appears on the
    display.

2.  Enter the file, the press ENTER.

RECALLING CONFIDENTIAL FILES

1. Press CONFIDENTIAL. TYPE IN PASSWORD appears on the display.

2.  Enter the password, then press ENTER. TYPE IN INITIALS appears on
    the display.

3.  Enter the first few characters of the file you want to recall.  If no
    file begins with those characters, NO FILES YET appears on the display.

Or, press CONFIDENTIAL repeatedly to recall the desired file.

DELETING CONFIDENTIAL FILES

1.  Recall the file you want to delete.

2.  Press and hold EDIT until DELETE FILE(Y/N) appears on the display.

3.  Press Y to delete the file, or press N to keep it.

CHANGING THE PASSWORD

1.  Press CONFIDENTIAL. TYPE IN PASSWORD appears on the display.

2.  Enter your current five-digit password.

3.  Press and hold EDIT until PASSWORD REMOVED appears on the display.
    Then ENTER A PASSWORD appears.

4.  Enter the new password. Then press ENTER to store it.

When TYPE IN INITIALS appears, either recall a file or press TIME/DATE.

DELETING THE PASSWORD

If you forgot your password, you can follow these steps to delete it.

CAUTION:  Deleting the password deletes all confidential files.

1.  Press CONFIDENTIAL. TYPE IN PASSWORD appears on the display.

2.  Enter 00000, then press ENTER. DELETE FILE (Y/N) appears on the
    display.

3.  Press Y to delete the password. When TYPE IN PASSWORD appears, enter a
    new password. When TYPE IN INITIALS appears, either recall a file or
    press TIME/DATE.

Or, press N to keep the current code.
