EC-342 (650-0860) Care and Maintenance Faxback Doc. # 16784 Your Radio Shack EC-342 48K Electronic Organizer with Auto-Dialer and Spell Checker is an example of superior design and craftsmanship. The following suggestions will help you care for the EC-342 so you can enjoy it for years. Keep the EC-342 dry. If it gets wet, wipe it dry immediately. Liquids contain minerals that can corrode the electronic circuits Use and store the Ec-342 only in normal temperature environments, and avoid sudden temperature changes. Temperature extremes can shorten the life of electronic devices, damage batteries, and distort or melt plastic parts. At very low temperatures, the display's response time might slow down or the display might fail completely. This is only temporary. The directory organizer works normally when it returns to normal temperatures. Handle the EC-342 gently and carefully. Dropping it can damage the circuit boards and can cause it to work improperly. Keep the EC-342 away from dust and dirt, which can cause premature wear of parts. Wipe the ec-342 with a damp cloth occasionally to keep it looking new. Do not use harsh chemicals, cleaning solvents, or strong detergents to clean it. Use only fresh batteries of the recommended size and type. Always remove old or weak batteries. they can leak chemicals that can destroy electronic circuits. Modifying or tampering with the EC-342's internal components can cause a malfunction and might invalidate the organizer's warranty. If the EC-342 is not performing as it should, take it to your local Radio Shack store for assistance. RESETTING THE EC-342 If the EC-342 is exposed to strong static electrical charges, the display might dim or "freeze up." If this happens, try resetting the Ec-342. Insert a pointed object (such as a straightened paler clip) into the RESET hole on the bottom of the EC0342, press and then release. NOTE: All files remain intact, but you must re-enter the date, time, and alarm (if set). If your EC-342 still does not work properly, replace the batteries and initialize. (/all-08/31/95)
