EC-337 (650-0858) Operation - Part 2 Faxback Doc. # 16825 USING THE TELEPHONE DIRECTORY The organizer's telephone directory stores your important telephone numbers and addresses. Each telephone directory entry includes three main parts; a name, a telephone number, and an address. ENTERING A PHONE RECORD Follow these steps to enter a name, telephone number, and an address. 1. Press ON to turn on the organizer. 2. Press TEL to display the telephone directory opening screen. NAME ? appears. Enter the name. To make it easier to recall, we suggest you enter the last name first. NOTES: To move the cursor left or right, press left arrow or right arrow. To move the cursor up or down, press UP arrow or DOWN arrow. If you want to use capital letters when entering the record, press CAPS. If you want to use a character that shares a key with a letter, press and release SHIFT. Then press the key you want. To enter an accent above a letter for French, German, or Spanish, press and release SHIFT, then press the yellow accent key on the top row. Finally, press the letter key. If you want to use special symbols such as $, #, or %, press SMBL so the special symbols are shown on the bottom of the display. Press right arrow to view additional symbols. Press left arrow if necessary to return to the first group of symbols. Then press the number that corresponds to the symbol you want. If you need to insert letters, press EDIT/INS. A flashing block appears. Press left arrow, right arrow, UP arrow, or DOWN arrow, to move the block to the position where you need to insert, then enter the missing letters. If you make a mistake, use BS (backspace), left arrow, right arrow, UP arrow, or down arrow to position the flashing cursor below the mistake, and enter the correct information. BS backs up and erases the character to the left of the cursor. You can press C/CE to cancel the entry before you press ENTER. You enter up to 251 letters including spaces for each record. 3. Press ENTER. NUMBER ? appears. Enter the telephone number. 4. Press ENTER. ADDRESS ? appears. Enter the address. To go to the next line without ending the entry, press the return key. 5. Press ENTER. The organizer stores the entry and automatically returns to the telephone directory opening screen. RECALLING A PHONE ENTRY The organizer stores phone entries in alphabetical order. You can use any of the following three methods to recall a phone number. Scrolling through the entries Searching by name Searching by other information Scrolling Through the Entries Follow these steps to scroll through all of your entries. 1. Press ON to turn on the organizer. 2. Press TEL to display the telephone directory opening screen. NAME ? appears. 3. Press PAGE DOWN to scroll in alphabetical order through the entries. Or press PAGE UP to scroll in reverse order. When you reach the beginning or the end of the entries, the organizer displays NOT FOUND ! and automatically returns to the telephone directory opening screen. Searching by Name Follow these steps to search for an entry by the name (or the first few letters in the entry). 1. Press ON to turn on the organizer. 2. Press TEL to display the telephone directory opening screen. NAME ? appears. 3. Enter the first few letters in the name. 4. Press PAGE UP or PAGE DOWN. The organizer displays the first matching entry. To see additional entries on order, repeatedly press PAGE UP or PAGE DOWN. If the organizer does not find the entry, it displays NOT FOUND ! and automatically returns to the telephone directory opening screen. Searching by Other Information You can search through your entries for one that contains a specific word or number. For example, you can search for all entries that contain the word TEXAS anywhere in the entry. Follow these steps to search this way. 1. Press ON to turn on the organizer. 2. Press TEL to display the telephone directory opening screen. NAME ? appears. 3. Enter TEXAS. 4. Press and release SHIFT, then press PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN. The organizer displays the first entry that contains those letters. 5. Press and release SHIFT, then press PAGE UP or PAGE DOWN again to display the next entry. If there are no more entries, the organizer displays NOT FOUND ! and automatically returns to the telephone directory opening screen. NOTE: If no entries match what you enter, the organizer displays NOT FOUND ! and automatically returns to the telephone directory opening screen. CHANGING A PHONE ENTRY Follow these steps to change a phone entry. 1. Press ON to turn on the organizer. 2. Press TEL to display the telephone directory opening screen. NAME ? appears. 3. Select the entry you want to change. See "Recalling a Phone Entry." 4. Press and release SHIFT, then press EDIT/INS. A flashing cursor appears on the first letter. Press left arrow, right arrow, up arrow or down arrow to move the cursor to the position you need to change. Then enter the corrections. 5. When you complete your corrections, press ENTER. The organizer automatically returns to the telephone directory opening screen. DELETING PHONE ENTRIES Deleting a Single Entry Follow these steps to delete a single entry. 1. Press ON to turn on the organizer. 2. Press TEL to display the telephone directory opening screen. NAME ? appears. 3. Select the entry you want to delete. See "Recalling a Phone Entry." 4. Press DEL. DELETE ? Y/N appears. 5. If you are sure you want to delete the entry, press Y. Otherwise, press N. 6. Press TEL to return to the telephone directory opening screen. Deleting All Phone Entries Follow these steps to delete all phone entries. 1. Press ON to turn on the organizer. 2. Press FUNC to display the function selections. 3. Press 4 to select Data deletion. 4. Press 1 to select TELEPHONE < TELEPHONE > and DELETE ? (Y/N) appear. NOTE: The directory displays SECRET ON! if the lock function is on. See "Using the Secret Area." You can only delete telephone entries if you have set the lock function to off. 5. If you are sure you want to delete all phone entries, press Y. Otherwise. press N.
