128K Electronic Organizer (650-0841) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 17674 REMOVING THE INSULATION SLIP Before you can use the EC-359, you must remove the protective insulation slip under the main power battery inside the battery compartment. To remove the insulation slip, grasp it between your thumb and forefinger, then gently pull it out. RESETTING THE MEMORY You must reset the EC-359's memory before you use it the first time. You can also reset the memory to clear all records you have already stored, or when the EC-359 is not working properly. Note: If the display does not work properly, try adjusting the display contrast and resetting the display first before you reset the memory. See "Adjusting the Display Contrast" and "Resetting the Display." CAUTION: The reset procedure clears all records and the date, time, key tone, daily alarm settings, and security code from the EC-359's memory. You should periodically back up all information in your EC-359 to prevent its loss in case of accidental erasure. 1. Press and hold down MENU. Then use a pointed object, such as a straightened paper clip, to press and hold down RESET on the back of the EC-359. 2. Release RESET and then MENU. 3. Press RESET again to clear all records. ADJUSTING THE DISPLAY CONTRAST The first time you use the EC-359, or when you reset the EC-359's memory, you might have to adjust the display contrast to see the display. 1. Press SYSTEM. The EC-359 beeps once. 2. Press the solid v three times. The EC-359 beeps each time you press the solid v key. 3. Repeatedly press < (REV or REVERSE) to decrease or > (FWD or FORWARD) to increase the display's contrast. 4. Press MENU to return to the main menu screen. (CS/all-10/27/95)
