It has 128,260 bytes of storage space available before you start storing records. Telephone/Business Card Records Each telephone/business card record uses 1 byte for each character, digit, and space you enter in a field, 1 byte each time you press the return key (RECALL or RETURN) to end a line in the ADD field, plus 2 bytes overhead for each field. For example, the following telephone/business card record uses 80 bytes of storage space. For example, the following schedule message uses 43 bytes of storage space. CHECKING THE MEMORY CAPACITY To see how much storage space is available, press MENU to save any card file or note you are working on, then press CARD FILE or NOTES. The number to the right of MEMORY USED : shows the amount of storage space (in bytes) you have already used, and the number to the right of MEMORY LEFT : shows the amount of storage space (in bytes) you have left. NOTE: MEMORY FULL appears on the display if no storage space is available. To free up storage space, you can delete old telephone/business card records or notes. See "Deleting Telephone/Business Card Records" and "Deleting Notes." DATA ENTRY TIPS Press SPACE to enter a space. To delete or replace a character, repeatedly press < (REV or REVERSE), > (FWD or FORWARD), the solid ^ , or the solid v to move the flashing cursor over the character, then press DEL to delete the character. Then enter the correct character, if necessary. Press CAP to change from lower-case to capital letters. If you repeatedly press CAP until a dash appears above the CAP graphic on the keypad, the EC-359 prints capital letters when you press letter keys. If you repeatedly press CAP until the dash above CAP disappears, the EC-359 prints lower-case letters when you press letter keys. Press SHF to shift only the next letter key you press to a capital letter, lower-case letter, or the special character printed next to the letter key. If you repeatedly press SHF until a dash appears above the SHF graphic on the keypad, the EC-359 prints a capital letter, or lower-case letter, or the special character printed next to the key, the next time you press a letter key. Then, after you press the letter key, the dash above SHF disappears, and the EC-359 prints all capital or lower-case letters again when you press letter keys. The EC-359 can print any of the following special characters. ! ( " # ) ? $ ; / & : , * Press INS to insert letters, numbers, or special characters. If you repeatedly press INS until a dash appears above the INS graphic on the keypad, a flashing line appears on the display. Press < (REV or REVERSE), > (FWD or FORWARD), the solid ^ , or the solid v to move the flashing line to the position where you want to insert the characters, then insert the characters. After you insert the characters you want, repeatedly press INS until the flashing line on the display and the dash above the INS disappear. Press MENU at any time to clear the display and return to the main menu screen. The EC-359 automatically stores your file. To get the most from you EC-359's storage space, use abbreviations whenever possible. (CS/all-10/27/95)
