Dictionary * Spell Checker (630-0927) Replacing Batteries Faxback Doc. # 18105 The dictionary uses two CR2025 3-volt lithium batteries, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-161. When the dictionary functions erratically, follow these steps to replace the batteries. NOTES: If you do not turn off the dictionary before you replace the batteries, the display shows random characters. To clear the display, reset the dictionary (see "Resetting the Dictionary"). You might need to re-enter the flashcard memory, personal dictionary, and currency conversion rate after you replace the batteries. 1. Remove the screw from the battery compartment cover and slide off the cover in the direction of the arrow. 2. Remove the old batteries and install two fresh batteries with their positive (+) sides up. NOTE: Use only fresh batteries of the required size and type. Always remove old or weak batteries. They can leak chemicals that destroy electronic circuits. Never let children play with the batteries. Swallowing a lithium battery could be fatal. To avoid risk of explosion, do not recharge, open, or heat a lithium battery or dispose of it in fire. 3. Replace the cover and secure it with the screw. RESETTING THE DICTIONARY If the dictionary is not working properly, try replacing the batteries. If the dictionary still operates erratically, use a pointed object, such as a pin, to press and hold RESET on the back of the dictionary until the display clears. NOTE: You must re-enter the flashcard memory, personal dictionary, and currency conversion rate after you reset the dictionary. (EB 11/16/95)
