LCD Talking Alarm Clock (630-0915) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 18161 INSTALLING/REPLACING BATTERIES Your clock uses two AA batteries (not supplied) for power. For the longest life and best performance, we recommend alkaline batteries, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-557. Follow these steps to install or replace batteries. 1. Remove the battery compartment cover by sliding it in the direction of the arrow. 2. If necessary, remove and discard any old batteries. CAUTIONS: Always dispose of old batteries promptly and properly. Never leave old, dead, or weak batteries in the clock. Batteries can leak chemicals and corrode or damage electronic circuits. If you do not plan to use your clock for a month or more, remove the batteries to protect the clock from possible battery leakage. 3. Insert two fresh AA batteries in the compartment as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -) marked inside. CAUTIONS: Use only fresh batteries of the required size and type. Never mix fresh batteries with old ones. 4. Replace the cover. When you install batteries in the clock, 12:00 appears, : flashes, and ALARM and CHIME symbols appear on the display. The clock automatically turns on the alarm and the hourly chime. To turn them off, see "Using the Alarm" and "Turning the Hourly Chime On or Off." If the clock does not operate properly or if the sound weakens or distorts, replace the batteries. (EB 11/20/95)
