LCD Directory Chronograph Alarm Watch (630-5087) Operation Faxback Doc. # 19139 MODES This full-featured watch has seven different modes. They are: Normal Time Tele-Memo Schedule Memo Alarm Daily Alarm Calculator World Time Chronograph Press MODE to change from one mode to another. SETTING THE TIME/DATE Follow these steps to set the current time and date. 1. Press MODE until the Normal Time display appears. 2. Press SET. The seconds digits flash. 3. Press CLEAR SPL./RST to reset the seconds digits to 00. NOTE: If the seconds were 30 or greater, the minutes advance by one. 4. Press 0-"ST./STP. The hour digits flash. 5. Press and hold CLEAR SPL/RST to advance the hour digits. 6. Use 0-"ST./STP to move to the next setting, then use CLEAR SPL./RST to change the setting. NOTE: The setting sequence is seconds, hour, minutes, year, month, day of month and day of week. 7. Press SET when you finish setting the time and date. NOTE: If you do not press a key for 3-4 minutes, the watch stores what you have entered and displays the date and time. Selecting the Time Display Format To select the AM/PM or 24-hour format display, press 0-"ST./STP when the Normal Time display is showing. NOTE: In the AM/PM format, PM appears during PM hours. In the 24-hour format 24 HR appears continuously. USING TELE-MEMO You can store up to 38 files of 5 letters and 12 numbers each, and you can use passwords to enter and then access private files. Files are sorted in alphabetical order. Storing Tele-Memo Files 1. Press MODE until TEL appears. 2. Press SET. The first letter blank flashes. 3. Use the keypad to enter the first character in the filename. NOTES: Since the keys on the keypad contain more than one character, repeatedly press the keys to select the appropriate letter or space. For example, to enter the letter K, press the lJK4 key three times. + and / clear the display, but you can use -. 4. Press 0-"ST./STP to move to the next letter blank. NOTE: Pressing X repeats the previous character. 5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 to enter the letters (up to 5). 6. Press 0-"ST./STP. The first number blank flashes. 7. Use the keypad to enter the first digit in the telephone number. NOTE: Pressing X has no effect in the number lines. 8. Repeat Step 7 to enter the numbers (up to 12). 9. Press <- or -> to store the information and move to the next file. NOTE: If you try to enter more than 38 files, FULL appears. 10. Press MODE when you finish storing files. Recalling Files 1. Press MODE until TEL appears. 2. Use the keypad to enter the first character of the file you want to locate (this reduces the number of files you need to scroll through). 3. Press <- or -> to scroll through the files. 4. Press MODE to return to the Normal Time display. Editing Files 1. Recall the file you want to edit. 2. Press SET. 3. Press 0-"ST./STP to move to the character you want to change. 4. Use the keypad to enter the new character. 5. Press <- or -> to confirm the change and exit the file. 6. Press MODE to return to the Normal Time display. Deleting a File 1. Recall the file you want to delete. 2. Press CLEAR SPL/RST. CLEAR appears. 3. Press SPACE/= to delete the file. 4. Press MODE to return to the Normal Time display. Storing Protected Files 1. Press MODE until TEL appears. 2. Press 0-"ST./STP. 3. If you have not set an access code yet, SET appears and the first digit blank flashes. Use the keypad to enter your personal 4-digit access code. A blank file appears with a SYMBOL in the top left of the display. If you have already set your access code, NO.? appears. Use the keypad to enter the access code. The last viewed protected file appears with a SYMBOL in the top left. Press -> to move to a blank file. 4. Enter the information you want to protect into the file (see "Storing Tele-Memo Files"). 5. To enter more protected files, press <- or -> to store the current file and move to the next file. 6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 as needed. 7. Press MODE to return to the Normal Time display or 0-"ST./STP to return to the unprotected Tele-Memo files. NOTE: You cannot change a protected file to an unprotected file. You must re-enter the information as an unprotected file. Recalling Protected Files 1. Press MODE until TEL appears. 2. Press 0-"ST.STP. NO.? appears. The first digit blank flashes. 3. Use the keypad to enter the access code. If the code is correct, OK briefly appears, then the last viewed protected file appears with a SYMBOL in the top left of the display. NOTE: If the entered code is incorrect, ERROR appears then NO.? appears again. 4. Press <- or -> to scroll through the protected files. 5. Press MODE to return to the Normal Time display or 0-"ST./STP to return to the unprotected Tele-Memo files. Changing the Access Code 1. Press MODE until TEL appears. 2. Press 0-"ST./STP.NO.? appears. The first digit blank flashes. 3. Use the keypad to enter the access code. If the code is correct, OK briefly appears, then the last viewed protected file appears with a SYMBOL in the top left of the display. NOTE: If the entered code is incorrect, ERROR appears then NO.? appears again. 4. Press X. SET and the current access code appear. The first digit of the access code flashes. 5. Use the keypad to enter a new 4-digit code. The last viewed protected file appears. NOTE: You can change the access code, but you cannot delete it without resetting the watch. (See "Replacing the Battery.") 6. Press MODE to return to the Normal Time display or 0-"ST./STP to return to the unprotected Tele-Memo files. USING THE SCHEDULE MEMO ALARM You can set the watch to sound an alarm and automatically display four personal reminders (up to 5 letters each), each at a preset time. Setting the Schedule Memo Alarm 1. Press MODE until SCHD appears. 2. Press <- or -> to select one of four "pages" where you want to store a memo. Page numbers appear in the lower right of the display. 3. Press SET. The month digit flashes. 4. Press or press and hold CLEAR SPL./RST to enter the desired month. 5. Press 0-"ST.STP to move to the date setting. 6. Repeat Steps 4 and 5 to enter and select the next date/time settings. 7. Use the keypad to enter the 1st-5th letters. NOTE: The setting sequence is month, date, hour, minutes, 1st letter, 2nd letter, 3rd letter, 4th letter, 5th letter. 8. Press SET when you finish setting the memo alarm. 9. Press MODE to return to the Normal Time display. Clearing the Schedule Memo Schedule memos remain in memory until cleared. 1. Press MODE until SCHD appears. 2. Press <- or -> to select the memo you want to clear. 3. Press CLEAR SPL./RST.CLEAR appears on the display. 4. Press SPACE/= to clear the memo. 5. Press MODE to return to the Normal Time display. USING THE DAILY ALARM You can set a daily alarm and hourly chimes. The daily alarm sounds for 20 seconds at the set alarm time. The hourly chime sounds at the beginning of each hour. Setting a Daily Alarm Time 1. Press MODE until ALM appears. 2. Press SET. The hour digits flash and ((.)) appears. 3. Press and hold CLEAR SPL./RST to enter the desired hour. 4. Press 0-"ST./STP. The minutes digits flash. 5. Press and hold CLEAR SPL./RST to enter the desired minutes. 6. Press SET when you finish setting the alarm time. 7. Press MODE to return to the Normal Time display. NOTE: When you set the alarm time, the alarm automatically turns on. The alarm sounds for 20 seconds at the alarm time. To silence the alarm sooner, press any button. Turning the Daily Alarm and Hourly Chime On and Off Follow these steps to turn on or off the alarm or hourly chime. 1. Press MODE until ALM appears. 2. Press CLEAR SPL./RST until the desired display appears. ((.)) - alarm is on BELL SYMBOL - chime is on When both symbols appear, both the alarm and chime are on. 3. Press MODE to return to the Normal Time display. The alarm sounds for 20 seconds at the alarm time. To silence the alarm sooner, press any button. USING THE CALCULATOR You can do standard arithmetic calculations with four basic operations (/, x, -, +) displaying up to eight digits. NOTE: If the stopwatch is running, you must reset it (see "Using the Chronograph" before you can use the calculator. 1. Press MODE until CAL appears. 2. Press the number keys, operation keys and SPACE/= to perform calculations as you would on any other calculator. 3. Press CLEAR SPL./RST to clear each calculation. 4. Press MODE to return to the Normal Time display. NOTES: - appears when the result of a calculation is negative. E appears when there is an overflow or other type of error. Press CLEAR SPL./RST to clear the E and continue calculations. If the calculation result exceeds 8 digits, any digits to the right of the decimal point are cleared. WORLD TIME In this mode, you can view and set the local time in 16 world time zones in addition to your current local time. Follow these steps to view the time zones. 1. Press MODE until WLD-T appears. The time zone abbreviation and current local time appear. 2. Press <- or -> to select the desired time zone. This is the sequence of the time zones and their corresponding abbreviations. Tokyo TYO Sydney SYD Honolulu HNL Los Angeles LAX Denver DEN Chicago CHI New York NYC Caracus CCS Rio de Janeiro RIO London LON Paris PAR CAIRO CAI Moscow MOW Dubai DXB Bangkok BKK Honk Kong HKG Follow these steps to set the time zone local time. 1. Press MODE until WLD-T appears. The time zone abbreviation and current local time appear. 2. Press <- or -> to select the desired time zone. 3. Press SET. The hour digits flash. 4. Press and hold CLEAR SPL./RST to set the hour digits. 5. Press 0-"ST./STP. The minute digits flash. 6. Press and hold CLEAR SPL./RST to set the minute digits. NOTE: In the World Time mode, when you set the time for one time zone, all other time zones are automatically adjusted accordingly. 7. Press MODE to return to the Normal Time display. USING THE CHRONOGRAPH (STOPWATCH) In this mode, the watch acts as a stopwatch, counting elapsed time in minutes, seconds, and 1/100ths of a second up to 59 minutes and 59.99 seconds. After that, it shows the time in hours, minutes, and seconds up to 99 hours, 59 minutes, and 59 seconds. NOTE: You can use all the other watch functions while the stopwatch is running, except the calculator. 1. Press MODE until ST-W appears. 2. Press 0-"ST./STP to start the stopwatch. 3. To measure split time, press CLEAR SPL.RST while the stopwatch is running. SPL appears and the display stops, but the stopwatch continues to run. After you record the split time, press CLEAR SPL./RST again to return to the running time. 4. Press 0-"ST./STP again to stop the stopwatch. 5. To reset the stopwatch, press CLEAR SPL./RST while it is stopped. The display changes to 0' 00" 00. 6. Press MODE to return to the Normal Time display.
