EC-215 Sales Tax Calculator (650-0573) Battery Faxback Doc. # 19157 Although your calculator is solar powered most of the time, the supplied back-up battery might eventually weaken and need replacing. If the display speed slows down in low light, replace the battery with a fresh 389A button cell battery. We recommend Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-117. Follow these steps to replace the battery. 1. Carefully insert a small, flat blade screwdriver between the case halves at all locations around the case indicated by the arrows. At each location, twist the screwdriver slightly to separate the front and back case halves. NOTE: The battery is located in the front half of the case. Be careful when you separate the case halves so the battery does not fall out. 2. Use a screwdriver to gently pry the old battery out. 3. Handle the new battery by the edge and insert it into the compartment with the positive (+) side facing up. 4. Snap the case halves back together. 5. Carefully insert the tip of a small, pointed object, such as a paper clip, into the reset hole on the back of the calculator and press gently to reset the calculator. NOTE: You must reset the EC-215 each time you replace the batteries. WARNINGS: Keep batteries out of reach of children. Swallowing a battery can be fatal. Always dispose of an old battery promptly and properly. Do not burn a battery. (PH/all-02/16/96)
