My Private Diary (650-0836A) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 19528 REMOVING THE INSULATION SLIP Before you can use the diary, you must remove the protective insulation slip inside the battery compartment. To remove the insulation slip, gently pull it out. RESETTING THE MEMORY You must reset the diary's memory before you use it the first time. You can also reset the memory when you want to clear all records you have already stored, when the diary is not working properly, or when you have forgotten your password. Caution: The reset procedure clears all records, the date, time, and daily alarm settings, and the password from the diary's memory. To reset the diary, use a pointed object, such as a straightened paper clip, to press RESET on the back of the diary. REPLACING THE BATTERIES Your diary uses two CR2032 3-volt lithium batteries, such as Radio Shack Cat.No. 23-162, for power and backup for the diary. IMPORTANT: Replace the main battery when the display becomes dim. Replace the backup battery every 3 years. Replace one battery at a time. Never replace both batteries at the same time. This deletes all stored information. WARNING: Keep batteries out of the reach of children. Swallowing a lithium battery can be fatal. Follow these steps to replace a battery. 1. Remove the two screws on the battery compartment cover with a screwdriver. Then carefully lift and remove the compartment cover. 2. Place the CR2032 battery in the compartment, with the positive side (+) facing up. 3. Replace the cover and secure the screws with a screwdriver. (JC 1/15/96)
