EC-379 Pocket Data Organizer (650-0876) Using the Schedule Alarms Faxback Doc. # 19925 SCHEDULE ALARMS Schedule Alarms helps you keep in control of your busy schedule by reminding you of meetings and other important events. For each alarm record, you can enter an alarm message up to 48 characters. At the set alarm time, the alarm sounds for 15 seconds and your stored message appears on the display. If the organizer is off at the alarm time, the alarm turns on the organizer, sounds the alarm tone, and displays the alarm message. To silence the alarm, press any key. NOTES: Since pressing any keys turns off the alarm, the organizer might not sound (and the alarm message might not appear on the display) if you are entering information when a schedule alarm time is reached. If the alarm sounds and the alarm message appears while you are entering information, the information you entered might not be stored. If your organizer is locked at the schedule alarm time (see "Secret Data Function" Faxback Doc. # 19928), the alarm sounds but the alarm message does not appear. To display the alarm message, you must enter the password. ENTERING A SCHEDULE ALARM 1. Press SCHED. SCHEDULE appears if there are schedule alarm times stored. If there is no alarm times stored. NO SCHEDULE appears. 2. Press PROG. U (used) and E (empty) appear on the display along with numbers indicating how much memory is available. 3. Enter the alarm date and time. NOTE: Press AM/PM (X) for a PM time. 4. Press ENTER. SCHEDULE ? displays. 5. Enter the message (up to 48 characters). NOTES: Press SPACE to enter a space. Repeatedly press SYMBOL to select a symbol (a dash, period, US dollar sign, English pound sign, Japanese yen sign, slash, comma, apostrophe, or colon) if desired. Then press the right arrow key to select the symbol and continue entering information. If you make an incorrect entry, press the left arrow key repeatedly to move to the character you want to change, then type the correct character over the old one. 6. Press ENTER. WAIT ... and the available memory appear, then the date and time display reappears. NOTE: Repeat Steps 3 - 6 to enter the next schedule alarm. 7. Press PROG to return to the schedule alarm display. TURNING THE SCHEDULE ALARM ON AND OFF When the organizer is in the schedule alarm mode (with SCHEDULE displayed), press TONE so a bell appears on the display. To turn off the schedule alarm, press TONE again so the bell disappears. RECALLING A SCHEDULE ALARM Schedule alarms are stored in chronological order with the earliest date and time first. 1. Press SCHED. 2. Press the SEARCH down key to view the earliest schedule alarm. NOTE: If there are no schedule alarms stored in your organizer, NO SCHEDULE appears on the display. 3. Press the up or down arrow keys to view the complete record. 4. Press the SEARCH down key to view the next record. EDITING A SCHEDULE ALARM 1. Recall the schedule alarm you want to edit. 2. Press EDIT. A flashing cursor appears on the first character of the display. 3. Press the right arrow key to move the cursor to the character you want to edit. To change a character, simply enter the correct characters. 4. To change the schedule message, press ENTER. The first character flashes. 5. Press the right arrow key to move forward or the left arrow key to move backward to the character you want to change. Then enter the correct character. To add a character, press INSERT so a character space appears in the cursor's location and the succeeding text moves to the right. Then enter a character. Press SPACE to enter a space. To delete a character, press DELETE. 6. Press ENTER until WAIT ... appears, then the date and time display reappears. The edited schedule alarm is stored. DELETING A SCHEDULE ALARM 1. Recall the schedule alarm you want to delete. 2. Press DELETE. DELETE ? (Y/N) appears. 3. If you are sure. Press Y. The time and message are deleted. Otherwise, press N. The record stays stored. VIEWING SCHEDULES FROM THE CALENDAR MODE When viewing the calendar, two dots appear to the right of any date containing a schedule alarm. In the calendar mode, move to the date by pressing the left, right, up, or down arrow keys, then press SCHED to see the schedule alarm time and message. Press CAL to return to the calendar mode.
