LCD Chrono Alarm Watch (630-5034) Operation Faxback Doc. # 3420 From the time display, when you press and hold down ST/STOP, the watch shows the date. Release ST/STOP to return to the time display. AM and PM appear on the left side of the display, and the days of the week show at the top of the display. SELECT, ST/STOP, and LAP/RESET let you set the time, date, day, and alarm time, and operate the stopwatch features. Be sure you are in the correct mode to change the watch settings, or use the stopwatch. USING THE LIGHT To view the display in the dark, press and hold down LIGHT. The display lights. CHOOSING THE CORRECT MODE When you press SELECT, the display changes in this order: Note: Do not press any buttons when you submerge the watch in water. SETTING THE TIME, DATE, AND DAY In the time/date setting mode, use ST/STOP and LAP/RESET to set the correct time/date/day. LAP/RESET - selects the digits to be set and makes them flash. ST/STOP - advances the digits that are flashing. From the time display, press SELECT 3 times to reach the time/date setting. Press LAP/RESET to move from one setting to the next (For example, after setting the seconds, press LAP/RESET to set the minutes). Notes: When you begin setting the time, you can set the seconds to 00 by pressing ST/STOP. If the seconds are greater than 29 when you press ST/STOP, the minute digits advance by one. To return to the time display at any time, press SELECT. When you set the time within a 12-hour cycle, AM or PM appears in the middle left of the display. To set your watch to the 24-hour format, advance the hour digits to 11 PM by pressing ST/STOP. Press ST/STOP again to begin the 24-hour format. H SYMBOL now appears on the right side of the display. To return to a 12-hour cycle, advance the hour digits to 23 by pressing ST/STOP, then press ST/STOP again. In the 24-hour format, the hour digits go from 1 to 23. For example, 1:00 PM shows as 13:00. You must manually set the date to February 29 in a leap year. SETTING THE ALARM TIME In the alarm setting mode, use LAP/RESET and ST/STOP to set the alarm to your desired time. LAP/RESET - selects the digits to be set and makes them flash. ST/STOP - advances the digits which are flashing. From the time display, press SELECT 2 times to reach the alarm time setting. Note: To return to the time display, press SELECT until the time display appears. TURNING THE ALARM AND CHIME ON AND OFF You can set the watch to sound a chime on the hour and set the alarm to sound daily. Turning the Alarm On/Off 1. In the time display mode, press ST/STOP and LAP/RESET at the time. The watch beeps, shows the alarm time and A SYMBOL appears in the top right corner of the display. When you release ST/STOP and LAP/RESET, the watch returns to the time display. Note: At the set alarm time, the watch beeps for about one minute. Press LAP/RESET if you want to silence the alarm sooner. 2. To turn the alarm off, in the time display mode, press ST/STOP and LAP/RESET again. The watch beeps, shows the alarm time and A SYMBOL disappears from the display. Turning the Chime On/Off 1. In the time display mode, press and hold down LAP/RESET. The watch shows the alarm time. While still pressing LAP/RESET, press SELECT. Seven flags now appear at the top of the display. When you release LAP/RESET and Select, the watch returns to the time display. 2. To turn the chime off, in the time display mode, press and hold down LAP/RESET again, then press SELECT. The watch shows the alarm time and the seven flags disappear from the top of the display. USING THE SNOOZE FEATURE When the watch starts beeping at the set alarm time, press ST/STOP to set the alarm to sound again after 5 minutes. USING THE STOPWATCH The stopwatch counts elapsed time in minutes, seconds, and 1/100's of a second up to 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, it displays the time in hours, minutes, and seconds up to 24 hours. After 24 hours, it automatically resets to 00 hours, 00 minutes, and 00 seconds, and begins to count up again. The stopwatch continues indefinitely until you turn it off. Follow these steps to use the stopwatch. 1. At the time display, press SELECT. The stopwatch display appears. Note: If the display does not show 00:00 00, press LAP/RESET to reset the stopwatch. 2. Press ST/STOP to start the stopwatch. The stopwatch starts timing and the display shows the advancing time. 3. Press ST/STOP. The stopwatch timer stops and the display freezes. 4. To restart the stopwatch, press ST/STOP. The stopwatch timer continues from the displayed time in Step 3. Note: While the stopwatch is running, you can press SELECT to switch to other displays. RECORDING LAP TIMES AND SPLIT FINISHING TIMES The lap function lets you freeze the display, document the timed reading, and then return to the stopwatch timer to see the advancing time. You can monitor lap times continuously as long as the stopwatch continues to run. You can also display the split time, which is the total elapsed time of all previous laps. Follow these steps to measure lap times and the split time. 1. At the time display, press SELECT. The stopwatch display appears. Note: If the display does not show 00:00 00, press LAP/RESET to reset the stopwatch. 2. Press ST/STOP to start the stopwatch. 3. When the first lap is finished, press LAP/RESET and the stopwatch display freezes. However, the stopwatch timer continues to run. (The colon in the elapsed time flashes.) 4. When you have acknowledged or documented the lap time, press LAP/RESET. The display switches to show the running stopwatch. 5. Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for each additional lap. 6. To capture a split finishing time (where you record two separate finishing times), press LAP/RESET to capture the first finishing time. 7. Press ST/STOP to capture the second finishing time. (The watch continues to display the first finishing time.) 8. Press LAP/RESET to show the second finishing time. 9. Press LAP/RESET again to reset the display to 0:00 00. STOPWATCH FLAGS On the watch display, dashes which appear above the days of the week are called flags. In the time display mode, the appearance of a flag indicates the current day of the week. In the three setting modes (time/date, stopwatch, and alarm), different flags appear and flash. When the watch is in stopwatch mode, the flags also designate the various stopwatch functions (see "Using the Stopwatch"). Chart 1 shows what the flags mean in each setting mode and Chart 2 shows what the flags mean in stopwatch mode.
