EC-4043 (650-0807) Error Conditions Faxback Doc. # 3443 When an error condition occurs, Error appears in the display. The calculator will not accept a keyboard entry until you press CE/C to clear the error condition. (Pressing CE/C CE/C clears the condition and all pending operations.) General Error Conditions The error conditions listed in this section can occur in most calculator modes. Errors occur when you attempt to: Perform a calculation that results in an answer larger than +/-9.999999999 x 10 symbol. Divide a number by zero. Use more than 15 levels of open parentheses or more than four pending operations. (You can use only one pending operation in the statistics mode.) Calculate log, In, or 1/x of zero. Calculate log, In, or Symbol of a negative number. Find an even root of a negative number. Raise zero to the 0th power or calculate the 0th root of any number. Convert rectangular to polar when x or y has an exponent > 63. Calculate tan of 90 degrees or 270 degrees 100 or 300 grads, or their rotational multiples, such as 450 degrees. Calculate sin -1 or cos -1 of a number whose absolute value is greater than 1. Calculate tanh-1 of a number whose absolute value is greater than or equal to 1. Calculate x! of a number that is not a positive integer less than or equal to 69. Calculate combinations or permutations when n or r are not positive integers. Statistical Error Conditions The error conditions listed in this section occur only when the calculator is in the statistics mode. Errors occur when you attempt to: Enter a data value (x) such that (x) Symbol 1x10 symbol. Remove a data value when it is the only value in the statistical registers, or when there are no data values in the registers. Calculate Symbol, symbol, Oxn, Oyn, Oxn-1, Oyn-1, correlation, intercept, slope, x1, or y1 when there are no data values. Calculate a two-variable statistic when you are in the STAT 1 mode. Calculate Oxn-1 with only one data value. Calculate the correlation of x' of a horizontal line. Calculate correlation, slope, intercept, x, or y' with only one data pair entered. Number-Mode Error Conditions Errors occur when you attempt to: Calculate a result that is outside the calculator's range for the current mode. Select BIN, OCT, or HEX when the displayed number is outside the calculator's range for the selected mode. In case of Difficulty 1. If the digits fail to appear in the display, be sure that all if the solar panel is exposed to an adequate light source. 2. Press AC/On to reset the calculator. Then try the calculation again. Review the operation instructions to be certain the calculations were performed properly. (LB/all-12/05/94)
