EC-364 (650-0833) Conversion Mode Faxback Doc. # 3526 Secret Sender is programmed to calculate the six currency conversions shown below. You will have to enter the current rates for these conversions though, since they change frequently. Once you have entered the current rate, you can calculate currency conversions with the touch of a key. You can also edit the built-in currency names. Built-In Currency Conversions Built-in-Rates $ 1. = pound 0.5 $ 1. = Lit 1000. $ 1. = DM 1.5 $ 1. = Pts 100. $ 1. = FFr 5. $ 1. = Yen 100. The built-in conversions have been assigned pre-programmed rates. If you perform a conversion without changing the preset rate, the message, "NOTICE! Change Preset Rate Before Using!" will appear on the display. This is because the preset rates are unlikely to remain accurate for long, and should not be relied upon to be correct. Press any key to clear the message. Enter the Conversion Mode from the main menu by highlighting the Conversion Mode icon (SYMBOL). Then press EXE. To set conversion rates: 1. Enter the Conversion Mode. 2. Use UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW to choose a conversion. 3. Press FUNCTION, then use UP ARROW or DOWN ARROW to high light "Rate Set." Then press EXE. 4. Type: 1. Then press EXE. 5. Type in a new value for the conversion rate in U.S. dollars. For example, the preset value for $1 is 1,000 Italian lire. Set a rate, such as 1489. Then press EXE. You may find that the stored conversion rate is acceptable. In that case, simply type in no new amount in Step 5. Just press EXE. This will leave the rate as it was. To convert U.S. dollars into foreign currency: 1. Enter the Conversion Mode. 2. Use UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW to choose the conversion you need. For example, choose U.S. dollars into French francs. The display will show the stored value for this conversion; the preset value here is $1 = FFr5. 3. Type in the amount in U.S. dollars that you wish to convert to foreign currency. To continue our example, say you want to convert $98.50 to French francs. Type: 98.5. Then press EXE. To convert foreign currency into U.S. dollars: 1. Enter the Conversion Mode. 2. Use UP ARROW and DOWN ARROW to choose the conversion you need. Actually, the display only shows the inverse of the conversion you need. For example, choose U.S. dollars into French francs, though you may want to convert francs into dollars. The display will show the stored value for the conversion; the preset value here is $1 = FFr5. 3. Press FUNCTION. Then use UP ARROW to highlight "Reverse." Then press EXE. 4. Type in the amount in foreign currency that you wish to convert to U.S. dollars. To continue our example, say you want to convert FFr 98.50 to dollars. Type: 9 8 .5. Then press EXE. In this case, type: 2 0. Press EXE. 4. Type: x 5 = The result will be DM 150. Data Editing Use the procedures described here to edit your telephone directories, schedule, memos, and currency names.
