EC-367 Telephone Directory with Spell Checker (650-0881) Power supply Faxback Doc. # 31527 ABOUT THE POWER SUPPLY The EC-367 is powered by two lithium batteries (CR2032 - Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-162). If the display becomes dim and difficult to read, it probably means that you need to replace the batteries. Note that data is deleted from memory when you replace the batteries. Remember to keep written copies of all important data. TO REPLACE THE BATTERIES 1. Press OFF to turn the power off. remove the screws that hold the back cover of the unit in place. 2. Taking care not to touch the interior of the unit, remove the back cover. (Figure 1) 3. Remove the old batteries installed on the back cover. 4. Wipe off the surface of new batteries with a soft, dry cloth, then load them onto the back cover so that the positive (+) sides are facing up (so you can see them). (Figure 2) 5. Taking care not to damage internal components with the tabs on the top of the back cover, replace the cover and the screws. (Figure 3) 6. Perform the RESET operation. BATTERY PRECAUTIONS Using batteries incorrectly can cause them to burst or leak, possibly damaging the interior of the unit. Note the following precautions: Be sure that the positive (+) side of each battery is facing up (so you can see it) when you install it in the unit. Never use a new battery with an old one. Never leave dead batteries in the battery compartment. Remove the batteries if you do not plan to use the unit for long periods. In order to avoid damage caused by leaking battery fluid, be sure to replace the batteries at least once every five years. WARNING: Never try to recharge the batteries supplied with the unit. Never expose batteries to direct flame or intense heat. KEEP BATTERIES OUT OF THE REACH OF SMALL CHILDREN. IF SWALLOWED, CONSULT WITH A PHYSICIAN IMMEDIATELY. (EB 3/26/96)
