EC-2034 12-Digit Desktop Calculator (650-0592) Battery Faxback Doc. # 31602 REPLACING THE BATTERY Although your calculator uses solar power most of the time, the back up battery can eventually become weak and need replacing. If the display speed slows down in a dark room, replace the battery with a 357A-type button cell battery (Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-115). Follow these steps to replace the battery. 1. Using a small Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the two screws on the back of the calculator. 2. Insert a small, flat-blade screwdriver into the slot between the front and back case halves. Twist the screwdriver slightly to separate the cases. 3. Remove the old battery. CAUTIONS: Dispose of the old battery promptly and properly. Do not bury or burn it. Do not allow children to play with the battery. Swallowing a battery can be fatal. 4. Install the new battery with the positive (+) side up, as indicated by the marking beside the battery holder. NOTE: Always use a fresh battery of the required size and type. 5. Replace the cover (top edges first) and secure it with the screws. (EB 4/2/96)
