LCD English/Spanish Translator (630-0928) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 31689 TURNING ON/OFF THE TRANSLATOR To turn on the translator, press ON. To conserve battery power, the translator automatically turns off after about 3 minutes of non-use. To manually turn off the translator, press OFF. ADJUSTING THE DISPLAY CONTRAST 1. Press MODE until ** English ** or ** Espanol ** appears on the display. 2. Repeatedly press /\ or \/ to adjust the display's contrast level. There are 16 levels. SETTING THE DATE AND TIME Follow these steps to set the date and time in your home city. 1. Press MODE until the display shows the date and time (with the seconds to the right of the display). 2. Press > to display the current home city. 3. Select your home city by repeatedly pressing /\ or \/. Or, enter the first letter of your home city, then repeatedly press /\ or \/ to choose the name of your city. If the translator does not list your city, select a major city that is in your time zone. 4. Press MODE to store the new home city and return to the date/time mode. 5. Press EDIT. An underline appears under the first digit of the year. 6. Enter the year, month, and day of the month. Then enter the time. Then press AM or PM to set an AM or PM hour. For example, enter 95, 11, 22, 1030, and press AM for 10:30 AM on November 22, 1995. 7. Press EDIT to store the date and time. NOTE: If the information you enter is invalid (for example, you enter 13 for the month), the display returns to the previous time and date setting. You must repeat Steps 5-7. 8. Press SPACE, if necessary, for daylight saving time. + appears on the display, and the hour digit advances by 1. (EB 4/5/96)
