EC-3030 12-Digit Two-Color Desktop Printing Calculator (650-0753) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 31857 CONNECTING POWER You can power your calculator from either four AA batteries or an external AC power adapter (not supplied). If you plan to use the print function frequently, we suggest you use an AC adapter. Installing Batteries You can power your calculator from four batteries. For the longest life, we recommend you use alkaline batteries, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-552. 1. Slide the battery compartment cover in the direction of the arrow and lift up the cover. 2. Place four fresh AA batteries in the compartment as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and-) marked inside the compartment. 3. Replace the cover. Connecting an AC adapter You can power your calculator from standard AC power, using an AC adapter, such as Cat. No. 273-1650 (not supplied). CAUTION: Use only an AC adapter that supplies regulated 6 volts and delivers at least 300 milliamps. Its plug must correctly fit the calculator's DC 6V jack and its center tip must be set to positive. 1. Turn off the calculator by setting P/NP/OFF to OFF. 2. Plug the adapter's barrel plug into the jack on the back of the calculator. 3. Plug the adapter's power module into a standard AC outlet. NOTE: The EC-3030 automatically disconnects the internal batteries when an AC adapter is connected. INSTALLING THE PAPER ROLL 1. Remove the printer cover by pushing it in the direction of the arrow. 2. Install the paper holders by inserting their hooks into the slots on the calculator's back housing. 3. Insert the knob on each paper holder into the ends of the paper roll. The edge of the paper should feed from underneath the paper roll. 4. Insert the edge of the paper firmly into the slot underneath the tab. 5. Set P/NP/OFF to P or NP, then press UP ARROW so the paper feeds through the calculator. 6. Replace the printer cover. Replace the paper roll when you see a red strip on one edge of the paper. We recommend you use Radio Shack Cat. No. 65-710 (EB 4/12/96)
