STORAGE CAPACITY Your EC-369 can store a total of 9,983 units of information in its memory. Each telephone file record uses differing amounts of memory depending on what it contains. Each character you store on the subject line uses 1 memory unit. Each digit you store on a phone/fax number line uses 1/2 of a memory unit. Each record you store uses about 3 memory units for overhead. For example, a record containing MARY JANE 817-555-1212 would use 18 memory units (9 units for the subject + 6 units for the phone number + 23 units of overhead = 18 units overall). To view the amount of memory remaining, press ( [] ) so NAME? Appears, then press and hold SPACE/?. USED/FREE and the number of memory units used and the number available appear on the display. NOTE: MEMORY FULL appears on the display if no storage space is available. Delete telephone records to free additional storage space. See "Deleting Telephone File Records", below. DATA ENTRY TIPS The EC-369 sorts telephone records in alphanumeric order by the first few characters in the subject line. If you want to recall records in alphabetical order by last name, enter the person's last name first on the subject line. Using abbreviations lets you store more records. Press SPACE to enter a space. To enter a hyphen in a phone or fax number, press the minus ( - ) key. Press < then CLR/CE to erase the last character entered. If < and/or > appears on the left side of the display, this means the line on the display is longer than 12 characters. To view the rest of that line, repeatedly press < or >. Each time you press it, the subject line shifts one character to the left ( < ) or right ( > ) on the display. MOVING THE CURSOR The - on the screen is called a "cursor."
