LCD Desktop Time and Weather Barometer (630-0856) Operation Faxback Doc. # 32747 USING THE THERMOMETER The temperature display can show the temperature in degrees Fahrenheit or Centigrade. To select either Fahrenheit or Centigrade, remove the batteries from the battery compartment (if necessary) and slide the switch inside the compartment to (F) or (C). The selection appears on the display. READING THE BAROMETER Barometric pressure changes for the past 1, 3, 6, 12 and 24 hours display on the five bars. The rightmost bar (-OH) indicates the current reading. The scale on the right side of the display measures the barometric pressure in millibars (mB). The 0 in the middle means equal to the present pressure; +2 / -2 means the past pressure is higher / lower than the present one by 2 mB, +4 / -4 means the past pressure is higher / lower than the present one by 4mB, and so on. These measurements show the pressure trend for the past 24 hours. Generally, an upward trend means the weather will be clear, while a downward trend means the possibility of rain or snow. Your barometer also displays the following forecast illustrations, according to its stored pressure readings. Sunny Slightly Cloudy Cloudy Rainy NOTES: The barometer most accurately forecasts the weather when it remains at the same altitude for at least 24 continuous hours. If you move the barometer between different altitudes during that time (for example, from the mountains to low, flat land), its readings are not correct. The barometer's forecasting accuracy is about 70-75%. It is for your reference only, and RadioShack cannot be held responsible for any difficulties resulting from its use as a weather-forecasting device.
