Micronta Walk & Jog Mate (630-0682) Preparation Faxback Doc. # 33026 PREPARATION Remove the red plastic insulating slip before you use your Walk & Jog Mate. 1. Slide open the battery compartment cover. Put your finger on the battery to hold it in place, then pull out the insulator slip. 2. Press the reset button with a pointed object such as a straightened paper clip. 3. Replace the cover. MEASURING YOUR STRIDE LENGTH To determine the actual distance you walk or jog, you must first measure your average stride length. 1. From a marked starting point, walk or jog ten steps. 2. Measure the distance in inches. 3. Divide the distance by ten (10). The answer is your average stride length. Round this to the nearest 2-inch increment. Repeat these steps several times to get a very accurate stride length. SETTING THE LENGTH OF YOUR STRIDE Once you know your stride length, you must enter it into your Walk & Jog Mate. 1. To open the pedometer, place your thumbs on the clasp and pull apart the two halves. 2. Slide down the mode switch to show miles on the display (MI). 3. Briefly press [STRIDE]. The stride length appears on the display. NOTE: When you first operate the pedometer or when you replace the battery, the stride length is set to 1'00". 4. Press [STRIDE] for about 2 seconds, then release it. The stride length blinks. 5. Press and hold [STRIDE]. The stride length begins to change in 2 inch increments. 6. When the stride length you want to set appears on the display, release [STRIDE]. NOTE: If the display goes past the stride length you want to set, press [STRIDE]. When the display reaches 7'10", it reverts to 1'00" and increments from there. 7. After you release [STRIDE], wait about 2 seconds. When MI appears, your pedometer is ready to measure distance. CHECKING THE SET STRIDE LENGTH Set the mode switch to Distance and press [STRIDE]. The stride length appears for about 2 seconds, then the miles display (MI) reappears. (YO/EB 5/14/96)
