EC-2035 Fraction Calculator (650-0529) Power Supply Faxback Doc. # 33491 Power Supply The Two-Way Power System of this calculator uses a solar cell, in addition to one LR44 button type battery. Unlike calculators equipped with a solar cell only, you can use this calculator under virtually any lighting conditions, as long as there is enough light for you to read the display. Battery Replacement If the display becomes dim and difficult to read or if nothing appears on the display when you press on/AC (especially when lighting is dim), you probably need to replace the button type battery. We recommend an alkaline battery, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-115. To replace the battery 1. Remove the screws on the back of the calculator and remove the back cover. 2. Remove the old battery. 3. Wipe the surfaces of a new battery with a dry cloth, and load it into the calculator making sure the positive + side is facing up (so you can see it). 4. Taking care to make sure that the tabs align properly with their slots, replace the back cover. Secure the cover in place with the screws. 5. Press On/[AC] to switch power on. 6. Press [MC] to clear the independent memory. Battery Precautions Incorrectly using batteries can cause them to burst or leak, possibly damaging the interior of the unit. Note the following precautions: Be sure that the positive + side of the battery is facing up (so you can see it) when you install it in the unit. Never leave a dead battery in the battery compartment. A dead battery can leak and damage the unit if left in the battery compartment for long periods. Remove the battery if you do not plan to use the unit for long periods. In order to avoid damage caused by leaking battery fluid, be sure to replace the battery at least once every 3 years. WARNING! Never try to recharge the battery supplied with the unit. Never expose batteries to direct flame or intense heat. Keep batteries out of the reach of small children. If swallowed, consult with a physician immediately. The unit may spend some time being shipped or in storage before you purchase it. This means that the life of the battery installed in the unit when you purchase it probably will not supply power for the normal battery life (about 3 years). Auto Power Off Function This calculator is not equipped with an OFF switch. Instead, it switches power off automatically about six minutes after the last key operation is performed. To restore power, press ON/[AC]. Even if the Auto Power Off function operates to clear memory, the contents of the independent memory are not cleared. (BR/EB 6/6/96)
