Installing Batteries

You need two AA batteries (not supplied) to power your EC-2028.  We re-
commend alkaline batteries, such as Radio Shack Cat. No. 23-552.

1.  Press down on the battery compartment cover and slide it in the
    direction of the arrow.

2.  Install the batteries as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and -)
    marked inside the compartment.

3.  Replace the cover.

4.  Press CAL to reset the EC-2028.  The calculator says "Reset."

NOTE:  If the voice announcement weakens or the display dims, replace the
       batteries.

A Look At Your Calculator

The EC-2028's Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) shows all calculation and
arithmetic quiz results and its speaker announces all key entries and
calculation and arithmetic quiz results.

This chart helps you understand the EC-2028's controls and its display.

CONTROLS

VOLUME 0/1/2/3            Selects off (0), minimum (1), middle (2) or
                          maximum (3) volume setting.

0 through 9 and .         Number key pad with decimal point.

CE/C                      Corrects wrong entries.

CAL                       Switches to the calculation mode.  Clears the
                          entire operation.

MUTE                      Temporarily silences the voice announcements.

=                         Displays the result of any calculation you
                          enter.

+, 10/-, ll/x, 12/divide  Four standard mathematical calculations.

Symbol (Arrow to left)    Multiplication table from 12 to 1.

Symbol (Arrow to right)   Multiplication table from 1 to 12.

+/?, -/?, X/?, divide/?   Random Arithmetic Test Table.

TIME/SET                  Displays the time.  Switches to the time setting
                          mode.

H                         Sets the hour digit.

M                         Sets the minute digit.

Display Symbols

AM                        Before Noon.

PM                        After Noon.

.))))                     Voice Announcement is on.

MINUS                     Negative/minus sign.

ERROR                     Overflow or error sign.

SETTING THE TIME

1.  If the time is not displayed, press TIME/SET.

2.  Press TIME/SET again to change the time.  The dashes flash.

3.  Repeatedly press H to set the hour, then M to set the minute.

4.  Press TIME/SET again.  The seconds start to count from 00.

    NOTE:  The clock uses the 12-hour format.  Be sure to set the 
           correct AM or PM hour.
