Vehicle Alarm System (490-0722) Hints and Tips Faxback Doc. # 14495 Alternate Door Trigger Input Wiring procedure: If you cannot connect the door trigger input wire to the existing door switch, and you must install a pin switch (Cat. # 49-509), wire it according to the following alternate procedure: WARNING: While reasonable efforts have been taken in the preparation of this information to ensure its accuracy, TANDY Corporation/RADIO SHACK assumes no liability resulting in the use of the information contained herein. 1. Install the pin switch. 2. Connect the white door trigger input wire to the pin switch. 3. Connect the other end of the pin switch to ground. 4. Connect a 47 Kohm 1/4 Watt resistor to the white door trigger input wire. 5. Connect the other end of the 47 Kohm 1/4 Watt resistor to 12V DC. 6. Tape all exposed wires. Arming and Disarming the Alarm: All doors need to be closed before arming and disarming the alarm for the first time. If the doors were not closed before arming or disarming the alarm and as a consequence, a problem is encountered with the alarm, the solution is to power the alarm down for a few minutes and then start over by following the procedure outlined in the owner's manual. Range of the Remote: The remote's range is very short and therefore one remote may not talk to the alarm at all. If one remote does not work, the procedure on Page 15 of the Owner's Manual must be followed. The solution for a short range on the remotes involves relocating the unit and/or the green wire. There is even an occassional collision with the neighbours' remote, which can be corrected by re-learning your remote while the neighbours are not using their's. Car Alarm Remote Installation: 1. Remove power. 2. Repower. 3. Push one remote. The system will chirp once. 4. Push the other remote. The system will chirp twice. 5. Store the codes. (IR/ir-07/21/95)
