Mini Shock/Vibration Detector (490-0521) Hints and Tips Faxback Doc. # 14529 The principle of operation is that inside the unit, there is a spring contact which either touches (normally closed) or untouches (normally open) a metal contact pipe. When the unit is vibrated, the spring contact will move and momentarily switch the circuit from closed to open and/or vice-versa and trigger the alarm. This is normally a closed device that will show an open if tampered with, if the cover is open, or if the circuit has been tripped. There are three screws on this unit--two are for connection to a normally closed loop on your alarm system and the third screw is for sensitivity setting. In its initial setting, it corresponds to a contact pressure of approximately 1 gm. If it is turned, the following are the approximate settings-- 45 degrees....6 gm pressure 90 degrees....11 gm pressure 135 degrees...16 gm pressure 180 degrees...21 gm pressure (IR/ir-04/29/96)
