Wire Auto Alarm System (490-0731) Hints and Tips Faxback Doc. # 14567 This alarm's remote is "keyed" to the last four digits of the serial number. These alarms "learn" the remote. If someone has a complaint that their neighbour's alarm controls their's, power should be removed from their alarm for five minutes. Then the alarm should be powered up (when the neighbour is not using his/her remote) and the remote used. This will allow the alarm to respond to the "in-house" remote and not to the neighbour's remote. There is a ten-second window where the alarm can "learn" both the "in-house" remote and the neighbour's remote. There is a much smaller chance that both remotes have the same code. Q: When auto fan turns on to cool the car, alarm goes off. A: When the fan goes on, the alarm senses a current change and thus goes off. The alarm does not have a wire to connect to the fan, so that the alarm knows that the fan is on. The alarm is not compatible with electric cooling fans. (IR/ir-09/06/95)
