Vehicle Alarm System (490-0712) Addendum Faxback Doc. # 15643 The information regarding "Connecting the Cooling Fan Lead" is not complete. If your vehicle has an electric engine cooling fan that turns on after you turn off the ignition, you must connect the yellow wire from the control center to the lead on the fan housing that goes from the thermostatic switch to the fan. This side has +12V only when the fan is on. Follow these steps to connect the control center to the cooling fan lead. 1. Strip about 1/2 inch of insulation from one end of the supplied long yellow wire. 2. Use a splicing connector to connect the unstripped end of the long yellow wire to the fan motor's switched wire, as follows. a. Slip the slotted side of the splicing connector over the fan motor's switched wire. b. Insert the unstripped end of the yellow wire all the way into the splicing connector's other slot. c. Use a pair of pliers to squeeze down the metal blade. Then fold over and latch the plastic tab. 3. Route the stripped end of the yellow wire to the control center and strip about 1/2 inch of the insulation from the center's yellow wire marked TO FAN. 4. Twist the stripped parts of the wires together, then insert the stripped ends fully into the supplied wire nut. Twist the nut clockwise until the wires are firmly secured. This connection prevents the fan from causing the alarm to sound a false alert. (/all-06/13/95)
