GLOSSARY OF TERMS Here are a few terms that will be helpful when reading this manual. Arm and Disarm - security jargon for on and off. When you have armed the security system you have simply turned it on. When you disarm the system you have turned off your protection. The system will still function as an annunciator and will respond to remote control functions, but you have turned off the "security" function. Annunciate - means to announce that a door or window has been opened. The system can be set to emit a pleasant sounding chime when a door or window is opened while the system is NOT armed. Supervised System - a method of ensuring full protection. Approximately every 90 minutes the systems sensors send a signal to the base receiver. If the base receiver does not receive a signal from a particular sensor within 8 hours, it alerts you that there is a problem with that zone. This enables you to take the necessary action to provide full security for your home. You may need to change the battery in the sensor for example. Zone - a specific area of protection. Your system has 16 zones. Each zone will normally be a door or a window but you can "loop" several doors or windows together and connect them to the same sensor. This group of doors or windows will then be one "zone".
